LSU Football [Will] Kelly’s recruiting class fall apart[?] (1 Viewer)

I love the NIL. People should be paid for their talents and the open market should decide that value. For the first time in the history of college athletics things are working as they should. Anyone complaining about this is doing so for selfish reasons.
While I agree that college players should be paid based on how much interest there is in their services, I would hate to see a school with the richest NIL supports buy up all the best talent every year. There needs to be some kind of cap on how much talent a school can buy.

That’s what the big schools have been doing forever.
Once a small school gets a good coach, they jump into a big program.

Totally agree with above.....

Yes, but they can do it openly now with no fear of retribution.

Now its about how much the alumni / boosters want to spend to field a competitive team. Not so much about the coach.

I'm pretty sure there are still restrictions in that the university cannot directly pay / coordinate payments to players, and they could technically be sanctioned and I doubt the courts would intervene. Because, the NIL ruling only says the university is not allowed to restrict the player from outside income, insofar as their name-image-likeness (but of course, nothing to do with the university), it doesn't say anything about restricting to university employees / associates from coordinating with the player for those opportunities.

But I'm sure there will be, probably already is, a yuge wink / nod going on, with said boosters / recruiters (not officially part of the university, of course) being part of the "offer", probably as a "follow up" after Coach sits down in the living room / gives them a tour of the facilities.

Meet your 2030 D1 National Champs, Harvard university.

The answer to this quesiton ended up being no. We still got 3 5 star recruits. We ended up with the 8th ranked class according to on3.

We could have been top 3, but we lost 2 huge 5 stars to the money truck.
