Not arguing that at all. I'm just saying that I don't believe the utilization of the data is as intended. Most of the time for most non-entry level positions, the hiring manager already knows who they are going to hire (their friends, the bosses kid, etc) and for top level positions, they recruit specific targets so nepotism is a bigger issue than diversity and let's face it, most of the companies actively doing this was for the federal incentives. Do enough to check the box to get the tax break and that's where it ends.adding general blather
sure an application's questions should be as streamlined as is useful
however it is almost always a much bigger benefit to have more diversity than more monoculture (basically true for all biology)
so the hiring practice shouldn't 'just' focus on the individual candidate in front of the interviewee - it should consider the health of the whole organism as well
