I am a fan of Maker's Mark and have never had Woodfords. Has anyone had Woodford Reserve and id you enjoy it over Maker's Mark?

I'd go with the Woodford Reserve.

It has a wonderful creamy vanilla, caramel smooth taste to it.

You'll notice a lite oak/butter after taste.

i haven't tried woodford, but many people here speak pretty highly of it

maker's is $$$$$

Although I drink both, I'd go with Woodford Reserve.

For you Maker's drinkers, check out Buffalo Trace. Easily one of the best for that price range.

Wisers!!!!!!!

Better than both, by a mile!!!

For an added note.... I like to drink on the rocks...

If you like Maker's, try Weller 12 year old. Also, in the same price range, try Eagle Rare 10 year old, Russell's Reserve or Rowan's Creek.

All suggestions good -- but each person is going to have their own favorites -- I personally am a Makers Mark kinda guy -- not a fan of 40 creek but people swear by it --

But my all time favorite whisky is whatever you are buying or pouring -- always is the best --

Strait...Woodford Reserve

On the rocks.....doesn't much matter what you drink at that point so go with the Makers

I like WR and I found that it gets even better about a month after opening. I don't know why or if it is even true but I noticed that it was smoother.

Those don't belong in the same sentence. 40 creek is a cheap substitute for Crown (both being blended Canadian Whiskey). Maker's is a Bourbon. Much different.

<-- Not a fan of Woodford Reserve.

Knob Creek is my preferred Bourbon. I am working on a bottle of Eagle Rare right now which might be the best bang for the buck I have ever tasted.

I'm also a knob creek fan, i just bought a bottle of woodford reserve. have only had 1 drink out of it so far.

i almost bought some woodford to try tonight....but i walked past the abita jockamo and lost my train of though

This is like a Honda vs. Toyota thread. Can't go wrong either way, have a taste of each. I'm not much of a bourbon guy though. I'll take a glass of Single Barrel Jack Or Bushmill's Malt over any bourbon, any day.
