Woodford Reserve or Maker's Mark? (1 Viewer)

Crown XR? Are you talking about Cask No. 16? The Reserve is a little less than $40 - only about $5 - $8 more than the regular crown

Crown XR is different from the Cask 16. I think the Cask 16 is about $80.

It is kind of like Halle Berry or Gabriel Union. You can not wrong with either one.
However I would give the slight edge to Makers Mark, but at the end of the day it is your own
choice. Cheers....

The Liquor Store in Slidell on Gause Blvd sells Crown XR for 155 plus tax. I have bought it
there before. Good stuff.....

Just to let everyone know I decided upon the Eagle Rare 10 year and it has a great taste profile for the price. So I thank everyone and say it was a very good selection

This is one of the better buys under $30 in the bourbon world. Another would be Rowan's Creek. And can we take all this Canadian whiskey talk to another thread. ;)

So would you guys say that Woodford Reserve is a good place for someone to start if they were just looking to get into the bourbon scene? I have never been a big drinker but have had some different bourbons in bars on customer visits that I enjoyed but I never really knew what I was drinking. I just went with what the customer recommended.

Start with Ten High, so you will be able to appreciate the Good Stuff [tm] :9:

Makers Mark or Weller Special Reserve would be a good place to start. It probably depends on what your current drink of choice is. If you like the sweet stuff like wine, Then maybe an Evan Williams would be better for you. If you dig brandy, then Weller or the 1792 might be a better choice.

I've already said it once on here, but it is worth mentioning twice: Eagle Rare is probably the best bourbon for the buck that I have ever had. Very smooth, not too sweet. Knob Creek is what I drink the most. K&B if you can get your hands on it.

crown xr is a limited run....when it's gone, it's gone forever

the cask No. 16 is aged in cognac barrels

Woodford Reserve is a smoother than Knob Creek, but they're both excellent bourbons and can't go wrong with either one. I was a Maker's guy until I tried KC and then went to Woodford. But, for pete's sake, please don't mix anything carbonated with these fine bourbons...save them for Jack and Turkey.

Pappy Van Winkle's trumps them all. Best bourbon whiskey I've ever had. Thanks Three Sheets for introducing me to greatness. All bourbon is whiskey, but all whiskey is not bourbon. A little lesson I learned from that show as well.
