Woodford Reserve or Maker's Mark? (1 Viewer)

...K&B if you can get your hands on it.

no K&B, but a few years ago, I was helping my hoarder dad clean out his "office" (which is stacked high with cases of wine and booze) and we unearthed a case of his favorite:

I'm pretty sure I saw a tear forming in his eye.

I met Melinda Schwegmann's daughter in Fort Lauderdale a month ago. We talked about food for almost an hour. Pretty sure Schwegmann's bourbon came up, too.

Woodford is the smoothest bourbon I have ever tried. I keep a bottle in my bar to sip on when I want a good sipping whiskey to unwind and relax with. For anyone that is interested in good bourbon, I highly recommend it. It has a golden flavor without the traditional bite or after taste that I envision when I think of bourbons.

Knob Creek is the taste a think of when I think of a standard or traditional bourbon taste and I try to keep a bottle under my bar.

Makers Mark is good as well, smoother than the Knob Creek IMO, but no where near as delectible as the Woodford Reserve.

I agree

I am a fan of Maker's Mark and have never had Woodfords. Has anyone had Woodford Reserve and id you enjoy it over Maker's Mark?

Personally I like Woodford reserve better -- makers mark would be second and then knob creek

I can't drink makers anymore, just too sweet. Woodford is pretty good, Russel's reserve is good too (saw it mentioned).

My favorites bourbons would be:
Basil Hayden (Loooove)
Eagle Rare
The reserves here
Bulleit (coolest bottle)
Buffalo Trace (best deal probably)
1792

Many I haven't tried, but to me there's so many good bourbons out there worth tasting that I'm surprised Makers is still as popular as it is.

I'll say it again, Pappy Van Winkle's dominates. 20 yr. aged Bourbon Whiskey. $102 per bottle is the best price I've found, and it's worth every penny. The 23 yr. is $364 a bottle. I never tried it, but will one day.

Haven't tried it, but I really want to.

im a cheap, simple man. Seagram 7 or Southern Comfort. both around $25/half gallon.

of course i like the crowns, makers marks....but i go the cheap route.

also not a fan of jim beam or jack daniels. i dont really like the taste

for my money, Jim Beam is the best bourbon around

:kenna:

:17:

On a regular basis I will drink Jim Beam, the black label 8 year old stuff. Makers is prolly last on my list its just too sweet. WR is awesome, Knob Creek is very good. I think everyone here named a lot of good bourbons. Want to go nuts get a bottle of 23 year old Pappy Van Winkles...

also another bottle I enjoyed was 1792.

Distillery. This small batch Bourbon whiskey is named for the year Kentucky became a state. It’s the official
toasting Bourbon of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival® and was awarded a silver medal at the 2011 Los
