Would you take Eric Beinemy or Klint Kubiak as OC ? (1 Viewer)

Bienemy was so bad in Washington. People calling Kubiak a “failed OC” because O’Connell hired his own staff for his offense after Kubiak led a 12th ranked offense. But Bienemy’s offense was 20-24th in yards and scoring in ‘23.

It took their WR1 McLaurin all 17 games to barely cross 1k rec yards, lowest total since rookie year. Saints offense would regress significantly with EB.

Easy, Kubiak. I've already spent too much time researching his offense, I can't change course now.

I know you're making a joke but this is actually the professional answer also. The organization certainly shouldn't change course after they've put all the effort into Kubiak and everything we know suggests that post-interview he was their top target, with the only thing that's not official being the announcement. The only reason to do something like that would be if you really thought Bienemy (or whoever else) was head and shoulders above everyone out there including the person you've spent the last month or so courting for the position.

Is it fair to even critique EB on his performance with the Commanders?

Bad O-line
Lame Duck HC that checked out really fast.
First-year ownership in place.
Shaky quarterback situation
You have to judge him. If your line is bad, you scheme to protect the QB, he let his get sacked 65 times. I don't even know what the pressures and hits look like, but I imagine it was horrendous.

Bienemy couldn’t elevate any of Washington’s supposed offensive talent. For as long as he’s been Chiefs OC with Reid and Mahomes, you’d think EB could scheme Howell into a competent, average QB. Terry McLaurin should’ve went off as a featured player since he’s the only legit playmaker in Washington’s offense. McLaurin also underperformed with EB.

Rivera may have already been on the way out but Bienemy couldn’t do anything to save the HC’s job, or to keep his own job on Quinn’s staff. Rivera was depending on him as an established assistant coach coming from a SB contender. I think Bienemy would be fine as a senior offensive assistant but not OC.

That's fair
