My fellow Saints fans, I ask that you have an open mind when reading this.
We all know that overall considering what the Saints gave up to draft him, his tenure here he was deemed a bust. To be fair, it wasn't because of his lack of ability but more so his lack of availability. That may never change but the reason I'm even bring this up is because of the Saints cap issues. They will not likely be able to sign high priced free agents. Along with having a stellar draft they will need to take chances with players who my come onboard on the cheap. And Davenport should fit the bill seeing that he will be coming off a torn triceps going into next season. Cam Jordan is long in the tooth and Chase Young will likely chase more money, Payton Turner will be a mystery and Foskey has shown pretty much nothing so far thus leaving the Saints thin at DE.

The exact opposite of what this organization needs to do.

This organization has been so reluctant to move on from players and an era where we are no longer that team. Now the fans or some are conditioned to think the same.

No, absolutely not. Waste of a roster spot. #MoveForward

Why? Was it his fault he kept getting injured?
For many reasons.
1.) We never got a return on our investment and we could’ve had Lamar instead. Thats not his fault, but the first part of that is his fault.
2.) He failed to learn any techniques outside of a bull rush
3.) always injured
4.) Zero dawg mentality. If you don’t have a dawg mentality, then your play must be at the forefront.
5.) He learned nothing standing side by side to one of the greatest to play the game (Cam).

Not averse to Davenport coming in to earn a spot. Forget his past injury issues in New Orleans -- going into 2025, he'd need to show that he can get past his triceps injury. You can't take that recovery completely for granted.

Otherwise, though ... no hard feelings. If Davenport were able to come back, demonstrate he's close to recovered, can stay on the field, AND can help situationally for a non-elite salary ... sure, bring him back to New Orleans.

Just note that the "if" is doing a lot of work in that sentence. He's not the kind of player you roll out the red carpet for. Davenport, however, is the kind of player that's worth checking out while making no promises.

Well said. The team needs to stop clinging to the past and start building for the future.
