Jammal Brown placed on IR(*Super MERGED*) (1 Viewer)

I bet they did this just to clear a roster spot for a position that is extremely thin right now. They did it a couple years ago with Hollis Thomas. That year, they put him on IR, then cut him (presumably they had a deal), then re-signed him when he was healthy. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see JB play again this year.

Wouldn't someone have a chance to pick him up on waivers?

Bushrod has done o.k., but not great. He and Strief will have to step up now ... there's no choice. I'm not sure who is the "emergency" OT. Probably in a pinch it would be Nicks. I'm sure they'll be looking at waiver wires and practice squad rosters to add depth.

I think this statement is a tad dramatic. Please explain.
I kinda agree, you can't deny that having to use extra blockers to protect Brees hurts our offense. We can scheme around having an overmatched LT against an average team like the Bills but it could hurt against better teams. Bushrod might get better along the season but if he doesn't it's gonna be a real problems when the big games begin.

This does suck, but it could be a blessing in disguise as he will have extra time to heal and be fully 100% by the start of next year and can now sign him to a much cheaper contract.

Before we say we need him. What is the one difference between last years running game and this year's running game. Last JB started and we could not pick short yardage and could consisently run the ball. This is he has not played and we are running the ball at will. Seems to me that we are better without him.

You missed the part last season where we were in the top five in YPC when rushing off of LT. Brown is a punishing run blocker. However, Strief played very well when Bushrod had to leave the game at Buffalo.

This is a pretty big loss. Yes, the line has been fine so far, but Brown is an extremely talented LT and one of the main reasons Brees has been upright the past three seasons. Brees has already been sacked 4 times this season, an average of 4.1% of his attempts. Compare that to the past three seasons, where he was sacked a total of 47 times, an average of 2.6% of his attempts.

Brown will be missed.

My bro and i were discussing the other night how much of an impact he would have once he came back. Coming off of hip and hernia surgery you've got to think that he wouldn't be in football condition for a good long while, not to mention the fact that he wouldn't be moving around nearly as well as he usually does.

I dont think this changes all that much for us. We face 2 of the toughest D's that we face all year in our next 2 games which there was no chance he would be playing in anyway. It would have been nice to have him back for the playoffs but I think we'll make do. We have so far.:9:
This ^^ :plus-un2:

I think i'll wait to panic until i see the injury report this week. If Bushrod isn't healthy that will be right around the time i start getting nervous.

i wonder if the FO is going to kick the tires on runyan for depth purposes.
I don't know who it's gonna be but I doubt we'll finish the season with only three tackles.....and I don't think Nicks should be an option there.
Maybe not Runyan but I'm pretty sure we'll get someone.
