Gleason bothered that “no one seemed shocked” by Gregg Williams’ pre-game rant (2 Viewers)

To me it sounds more like that he is surprised that GW could create a culture in the Saints locker room where things like these could be said even if the players obviously didn't take it literally.

I remember the GW audio went public the day prior to the coaches appeal meeting with Goodell. The tape release was (IMO) Fujita's attempt to deflect as much blame as possible from Payton and Loomis and divert it to their culprit Gregg Williams. Unfortunately the initial reaction to the tape was to paint a broad brush "hang them all and hang em high" that did nothing to soften Goodell's stance. A couple of days later Fujita and Gleason claimed Pamphilon released the tape without consent since it went over like a lead balloon, but if the tape had in fact exonerated Payton and Loomis in the public eye then Fujita would have reached his intended goal. I think this is the reason Roger 'targeted' Fujita in the subsequent player suspensions.

At this stage of Steve Gleason's life he can say anything that comes to his mind and I will still have all the respect in the world for him. For anyone to think that a judge will take into account a few random thoughts from a man in the last stages of a terrible disease is nuts. Applaud mr Gleason for what he has done in the past and look over this. I doubt any of us would have taken on Hos situation with the dignity and class Steve has.

Its ol skool football talk. I have heard speeches like that plenty of times just to get pumped up. No one is intentionally trying to hurt no one on the football field. Playing dirty is one thing but to intentionally just trying to hurt the opposite guy...NO!!!

If other teams coaches dont do the same thing they are a flat out lie....I spoke with a cowboys assistant a while back and he even said at the end of games some players would get a sneaker bar rapper with money in it. All teams do this but why pick on the Saints i have no idea. We just need to move on. SP will be missed as well as Vilma. But we just got to push on and get the homefied advantage so we can host our own SUPERBOWL. Then we can all as fans, players, and coaches rub it in Goody BC Powder face. As fans we just need to do our job and get this Saints team to 8-0 in the Dome.

As far as Gleason goes, how in the world he think people is not shocked. Im shocked about how in the world he get a statue in front of the Dome and not the Dome Patrol. After all the years they have been together and single handed won games for this organization and not to have not one of these guys statue outside that Superdome. I really admire Gleason for all the stuff he is going through but it was him and his friend who started all this mess about an Audio. Im beginning to think Gleason told dude to release it to the NFL. Real Talk!!

Saints coaches need to keep people out of the meeting rooms. You don't see the military with some outside personal in a meeting room. If so Bin Laden might be still alive because somebody would have went and ran there mouth. When you get ready to go too war its just the soldiers and no one else. So why outside people in your meeting rooms anyway Saints..Nuff Said!!

Im just tired of all this Bounty mess and ESPN talking bad about SP. Its just ridioulous.

"nuts" is right...like punching a guy in the.

To say this might not get the embers burning in the Vilma hearing is "nuts". This is what this Judge is sifting through. To have a homie say "Geez, I can't believe the team didn't bolt out of the locker room screaming bloody murder because of what GW said" is damage. Minimal, but damage just the same.

i must be nuts then

I'm shocked it hasn't been posted yet, but king and HBO have both said that Gleason's quote was misquoted. His initial statement about being surprised that no one seemed shocked was referencing to the ppl in his group at the time(Sean pamphillion, and whoever else was with him. He's not talking about the players. And frankly I think this blows that scumbags self stated explanation for releasing the tape out the water. If he wasn't shocked when he first heard it, then it obviously went over as locker room hyperbole and he released the tape strictly for exposure and money IMO

There is a separate thread on it.

It should be merged. On in less than an hour. I hope it does Gleason and the city proud.

lol..do you work in PR cause dang man, I appreciate the postive spin you can put on things for the saints haha.

I agree that no one should judge Gleason, he has right to his opinion- and certainly no one should turn against him for that. He's the exact same guy.

I disagree that people need to pretend there is some crazy "context" to what he said. Yeah, it doesn't look great, but a lot of players have said the same thing AND a lot have said the opposite. I'd say it's about 50/50 on players that thought the speech was acceptable and those who felt it was overboard. Everyone has their own feeling on the issue.
