3-4 Adjsutments for Vitt? (1 Viewer)

Didn't GW run a fair amount of modified 3-5?

He often used a 3-4 as his base defense, but he also had a lot of 3-man front subpackages.

But there were plenty of games, where on 1st/2nd down, we were in a 3-4 defense.

GW ran a sort of 3-3-5 as frequently as he ran a 4-3 base alignment, but Roman Harper essentially played as a 4th linebacker. He ran some 3-4 with Marvin Mitchell as well, but not nearly as much as the 4-3 or 3-3-5 with Harper in the box.

I hope Rob Ryan keeps Vitt as far away from the linebackers as possible. Vitt is a terrible Linebacker coach.

Vitts needs to be an assistant to Payton and THAT IS IT!

Ryan bring in your own LB coaches.....

- he NEVER developed any LB we drafted....

- Vilma & Lofton were already made before coming to New Orleans.....

- who has he developed that became a STUD or even solid in the NFL....and please don't say Shanle :giggles::giggles::giggles::giggles:

No. He was signed by St.Louis specifically to be a starting LB (replacing Chamberlain actually who we friggen signed :covri:) on the evaluation of Greg Williams.

So Vitt developed Dunbar into the guy that Williams wanted to sign to start at LB. Spag let Dunbar walk so he could bring in his guy Chamberlain.

So Vitt gets credit for Dunbar. Dunbar got his job because of the progress he made under Vitt that Williams saw.

So, Vitt developed Dunbar to play behind the ever-so-great Scott Shanle? Nope, Vitt and GW chose to start the likes of Shanle instead of Dunbar. Vitt gets no credit for developing Dunbar.

Dunbar came in here as an undrafted rookie, got better every year and therefore got more playing time. When he was ready to start he did start - he started 14 games in 2011. That's exactly what you are hoping for and it's a success story. If you don't want to give Vitt any credit for that then you are free to do so but Dunbar's career clearly shows that young players did get better under Vitt.

How is it a success story when he is on another team? That just means he is terrible at recognizing the talent in front of him. He likes "character" over talent obviously. We steadily miss tackles and Dunbar was a sure tackler. Doesn't make sense to get rid of someone with a skillset we lack. I like Vitt as a mouthpiece but nothing more.

Give me a break. Dunbar is what you call a "football player" or "gamer". He is the kind of player that possesses all of the tools and attributes to be successful in the NFL. Every position we asked him to play, he did with ease. Sorry, despite going undrafted, that was one talented/gifted player, that got a raw deal by having to be buried behind Shanle (despite outplaying Shanle). The only thing that Vitt gets credit for is: stealing playing time from Dunbar and wasting our time by putting Shanle instead of Dunbar on the field.

This guy is clueless! How can he give credit to Vitt for developing Dunbar but Shanle started in front of this guy. Are you serious....

There are alot of people on here that doesn't know anything about football or talent...PERIOD DOT!

Shanle is below average as a LB.....always has been. Dunbar was better than him and we let Dunbar go....hmmmmm doesn't seem smart at all.

I don't know what's so complicated about this. Dunbar came in as an undersized UDFA and got progressively more playing time until he was essentially starting in 2011. Then we hired Spags and Spags wanted to bring his own guys in (Chamberlain manly).

This isn't complicated stuff.

Did you people just not follow the Saints until 2012? We're you out of the country in 2011? I'm really confused about how none of you seem to remember Dunbar starting much of the season in 2011. We moved Shanle to SAM specifically to play Dunbar? Anyone recall? No one? Dunbar had 80 tackles, he was one of the top tacklers on the team. Nobody?
