Victor Butler just left without a contract offer (1 Viewer)

That could be the case. I am not sure he really needs to be sold given the reports (if accurate) and his familiarity with Ryan. However, if he is really looking for $4-$5 million a year, he is way off base.

He may be looking for a long-term deal that just averages out to that. But even that, I agree, would be a hard sell. Keenan Lewis at least had a full seasons of starter experience to sell a 5 year deal with. Butler does not.

He should be more in line with other short-term linebacker "prove it" deals, such as 2 yrs / $6 million.

Edit: this could just mean that he did not agree to an offer...but I took it as if they did not offer him one period
Why do players keep going to Cleveland, yeah they have money but that team has the worse luck ever <iframe id="rufous-sandbox" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" style="display: none; "></iframe>

I still think we will end up signing this guy on our terms or pretty close to them.

Butler must be looking for the highest bidder. He has been to a few teams and hasn't landed a deal yet. That sounds like a guy looking for the biggest pay day, but no one must think that he is worth what he is asking for. He hasn't proven himself yet. Oh well... I would rather not have the guy, than over pay for the guy.

Indeed.

He's young and looking for the money not the ring! When he gets old he might wish he had went for the glory! To see what it taste like!!!!!

He probably would be a backup.

I think the team has more confidence in Galette and Tez than most people think. I'm not sure about Tez as far as a pure passrusher but i think he'll be an upgrade on the outside an adds much needed speed.

Junior.......i swear i think this guy will go for double digit sacks this year. 10-15 sacks by himself.

You answered yourself.

Yea he maybe the starter, but I am concerned with his read/reaction to drop in coverage and his ability to dip his hips in pass rush. On speed alone he will make an impact but if he struggles in those two areas teams will be able to exploit him.

People have short memories. This same thing happened when we signed Lofton last year. I think Lofton had been gone for close to a week and a half when he agreed to terms.

Maybe he left because he didn't think he cold win a starting job. :idunno:

If that is the case why visit Cleveland? They have Kruger, Sheard, and Groves already.

He is not seeking a starting job. He is looking to get paid which is OK in my book. Cleveland has the cash to pay his asking price if they so choose.
