Council approves live-entertainment venue on Lake Pontchartrain | The New Orleans Advocate

A live-entertainment venue on Lake Pontchartrain that would include an open-air market got the green light Thursday from the New Orleans City Council.

The 5,000-person theater, combined with restaurants and retail space, would be built at the site of the former Bally’s Casino dock, which has been vacant since Hurricane Katrina....

The project is planned for a 19-acre site next to Lakefront Airport and includes plans for a fuel dock and marina supply store as well as a boathouse that would be leased to the National World War II Museum to house a restored Navy torpedo boat.

this seemed the appropriate thread even though neither of these is new
Morning Call & Buds Broiler moving in next to each other in Lakeview
Canal & City Park Ave (next to Bulldog)

And I hope the Drive Shack deal doesn’t fall apart. Seems like they got antsy when there is a possibility that Top Golf might end up here in the future.

the butcher - west end & harrison

the backyard - harrison & fleur de lis (across fdl from tony angelos)

The Backyard is great.. when i lived in Lakeview, i went there often, in my contention their burger might be the best in the city[tm].. if not, then it’s very good.

The butcher shop I believe is called Chris’s Meat market or somehting similar, good stuff at that place too... i have to say, in the time i lived in LV, it seemed like half a dozen restaurants shut down or moved in a short period of time, including but not limited to: Cava, Lakeview Harbor, Tony Angelo’s , Mondo, A great little po-boy shop on Harrison i cant rem ember the name of, and a couple others.

The replacements for all of those places are pretty good though. Cava is now Junior's (not bad, good bar), TA's is now Rizzuto's (very good, and inevitable since TA passed), LH is now in West End and 3-B's is pretty good (better bar and decent burger), I am not a huge LH fan, Mondo (which was great) is now Elle J's (good Italian) and Susan Spicer is still at Rosedale (great). Don't know about the poboy shop, but Lakeview burgers next to Parley's is quite good as well. You also have Lakeview Pearl, District Donuts, and Francesca's down Harrison a bit (all very good)

I've been to Chris's meat market a few times and everything is too prepared for me - already stuffed or marinated or whatever. I would rather have a regular butcher.

Edit - I think the poboy place you are thinking of was Koz's, which is now Francesca's (improvement) which is Chef Scot from Katies.

Yeah we moved before i had a chance to try some of the replacement places, but i just thought It was odd that so many places that had been there for a while ceased to exist in that short time, or at least to exist where they’d been located for a while.. The poboy shop I’m trying to think of was on Harrison and maybe Louisville or thereabouts .. they actually had much more than poboys, and I’d go there about once a week.. i think it may have become Andy’s(?), but not sure about that.. and I think they also had a location in River Ridge or Harahan.

Yeah I thought Koz’s too but he might have meant Loveccio’s
