Anyone have thoughts on this device? I've got an opportunity to get one for very little. I don't have a particular need for it but it seems like a nice device. I see it was released in 2015. Is it still a good tablet?

EDIT: No, it's not used or stolen. ;)

My parents have one. It's a great device as long as you're okay with the size. For me, it's useless. :hihi:

Don't know much about the 4, but i have a mini 2, which i use as gps with a dash mount.
This is so much better than doing same with a phone. But a standard Ipad would be too large getting in way of proper driving vision. Mini is perfect in my scenario.
Then when i'm stuck in the car waiting for extended amounts of time, I stream tv shows and movies i'd like to see, but end up gaming at home instead of watching.

sorry for such a run-on sentence. If its cellular and not just wi-fi. anything south of 250.00, jump on it.

Thanks guys. It's actually more or less free through work incentives. I just have to weigh it against other valuable items that are open to me. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't super obsolete or anything.

could be wrong, i believe the 4 is the most recent mini, there is a more recent full ipad, and new ipad pro.
so, not the latest and greatest. but not obsolete.

I owned the Mini and ended up selling it eventually. It's actually a great little device, I just didn't really feel I was using it enough to warrant keeping it around. I stream amazon movies from my $75 fire tablet which is about the extent to which I use tablets these days but of course ymmv

for me the display was too small. These days I would not consider anything less than a 10 inch display

I have a mini 4. I use it as the display for my Phantom 3

So...I finally received the Ipad. It's sharp. It's cool.

What do I use it for? I set up all my accounts and it's fine and all. But it doesn't do anything I wasn't already doing on the phone. Is there a benefit to tablets anymore? I've got a 3 month old so perhaps it'll be good in a year or so for her purposes. Should I sell it? Keep it around? Hmm...

My 6-year-old has an iPad Mini specifically and it's been great for him, honestly. We try to limit his screen time and the microtransactions will beat you to death so make sure all that stuff's turned off, but yeah. Tablets are great for kids. My younger two kids (3 and 1) share a Fire and IMO it's been great for their development.

The only thing is they get in tune with the tablet's way of manipulating items so they're all the time going up to the living room TV or my computer monitor and trying to "swipe" what they want. It'd be funny except they always seem to have grape jelly or something on their grubby fingers.

It's just a phone with a bigger screen, which is useful if you watch a lot of video, or are really trying to replace a laptop.

When my old ipad finally aged out, I didn't see any reason to get a new one.

I have to say that I enjoy having the big screen for vegging out. But it’s more of a sense that I should have got a bigger phone than me needing a tablet. I think I’ll use it for a week or so and then decide whether to sell it. My father in law will buy it from me for the going rate since he has a specific purpose for it and he happened to be in the market.

I’ll say this, the gap between android and apple is very small now. All my google apps and accounts now work on the iPad. I can even cast into google home devices, which is great. I just wish there were more multiuser and family options.

Android really doesn't have any great tablets IMHO. I have an iPad Pro for work and love it, though. Apple just has such a better app ecosystem IMHO. I use it with an old Microsoft wireless keyboard and it works like a charm. I do markups and drawings with the Pencil and I definitely don't use my old Macbook as much now that I use the Pro.
