Craig Robertson had his most snaps on defense last week. Interesting since we had our best game as well. (1 Viewer)

I said in the preseason when the linebacker core looked like a hot mess that him Davis and Klein should be starters. I still think that should be the case. Maybe Anzalone could be used as the nickel backer with Davis.

Robertson can run. Davis and anzalone our really the only two we have that can get off blocks. Team values Klein impact on communication im guessing. Athletically Robertson, Davis Anzalone our best three. Robertson should be our chase will in my opinion. Klein is playng well the last few games. Injuries are usually inevitable. Robertson gonna eventually get alot of snaps. One of our best assetts for a run. If a guy goes down. Talent level of the guy thats coming in is not a huge drop off

Man I’m so thankful Davis is balling now.

Having considerably more snaps, Anzalone had half as many tackles. It's a shame he plays ahead of Robertson.

Stephone Anthony led the team in tackles one year. Should we have kept him?

This regime has no worries about cutting a high draft pick. They’ve done it before and will do it again. Anzalone is on the field because he is the better option in the coaches minds.

I remember a couple years ago everyone here was really high on a safety in preseason and a bunch of people were upset when he was let go. Yes he made some great splash plays but he was always out of position. Could be something similar with Robison. Maybe he makes so many tackles because he is running behind his assignment.
Except with Anzalone you dont get tackles or splash plays. Smh...

He’s undersized + Anzalone is more athletic and a draft pick. As an organization, the Saints obviously want the younger, more athletic player that they’ve invested more into to work out long term. As fans, we should want the same, but Robertson has continuously proven to be one of our best football players. DA needs to get creative and give the guy more snaps.

Still far from telling the tale.

Tackling many times is a team effort.....with one guy’s job to set the edge.
Another guys funnels back in.
Another guy tackles.

Very few tackles are open field made in a vacuum.

Number of tackles is not a great stat.....as proof of when Anthony led us in tackles.

More times than not AA is in coverage, so if he covers tonthe point of his guy not getting passed to.....he won’t make the tackle but he did his job.

Rewatch the game. That happened a lot.

Anzalone plays a lot of coverage snaps at LB as well. Good coverage doesn't show up on the stat sheets.

I'd love to see more Robertson as well but I think they know what they're doing based off the results of the past few weeks improvement.

I may be wrong but I think his detractors cite a lack of speed as why he should not be playing/starting.

Imo, he overcomes any physical limitations he has with his fire, and knack for making a play. The other defensive players feed off of his energy imo. He’s just a good football player.
Has anyone isolated Anzalone on film to see what he is/isn't doing well?

You would think with some of the whiffs you see against the run he must be getting snaps because he gives some advantage in coverage.

I like Robertson and would also like to see him more. But, I'm not going to diss Anzalone. He needs playing time and doesn't seem to be a detriment. So far, he's been pretty good in coverage. Robertson may have more tackles if he replaced Anzalone, but pass coverage may suffer. And it's not like we aren't good at stopping the run. In fact, we're pretty good at it.

Four weeks ago Klein was being bashed and considered not NFL caliber by some. Knee-jerk reactions are more the norm these days. I wish the Rams had given up on Goff his rookie year.

Robertson was a 4.55 4.6 at his pro day. Think he ran a 4.7 at combine if i remember right. Watching him play i think he is more of a 4.6 guy. Hes about 230lbs. Anzalone got the lenght and size and speed you want over tyr the TE at sam.

Get that point very well. Still not a fan of Klein (never have been) but I’m thankful he’s part of a defense that is playing better. Kudos to him.

I havent broke down the film but ive seen anzalone do his job at sam on occasions. He stands up the TE funnel the ball carrier to someone else. Usually to Davis who been playing Mike. Anzolene physical measurables just to good to take of the field.

Why do people not look at this way...

Craig is great in run support and redzone situations.

Where as he struggles when he gets picked on to do pass coverage against speedster in his zone. whichis his liability between the the 20s.

Why do you want him more snaps in situations that don't complement his skill set. Anzalone is our best coverage linebacker if I'm correct. Anzalone has a skill set more better suited to be on the field moreso as Craig is an excellent situational linebacker.

There is a rhyme and a reason for everything. There is only 2 starters in our LB Corp. It's Davis and Klein. Teo, Craig, and Anzalone are all great situational pieces that show up when called upon..

More snaps=/= better production

Follow the game plan and use your chess pieces intelligently. Which is why I stressed in preseason that our LBer Corp is very game plan dependent.
