N/S Is There a Reason Aaron Rodgers is still Regarded as the Best QB in Football? (2 Viewers)

NFL loves to market players and teams that bring in a lot of money. Same reason why Dallas is always talked about. They have a lot of fans and those fans spend a lot of money on merchandise. Rodgers is marketable because he plays in Green Bay, another classic NFL team with deep roots in the league. Could you imagine how much the media would talk about Brees if he played in Dallas or San Fransisco?

Is there a reason that some Brees fans cannot accept that there are other QBs in the league that are just as good or, dare I say, better than Brees?

Brady, Brees and Rodgers are all great at what they do.

I agree with this. All 3 of those QBs are studs & should be in the conversation of the best to play the game. I guarantee Brees would say the same. Also, they are all 3 different in their approach of how to play the game. Rodgers is by far one of the best ever of creating something out of nothing for a guy who is not a traditional running QB. Some of the throws he makes are incredible. Brees is an absolute mechanic on the field. His precision and timing are unmatched by anyone who has played the game. For someone who can't see his receivers much of the time, to have the completion % he has is amazing. As for Brady, he just wins. Some of that is the system & Bellicheat, but Brady is the one doing it. For those saying something about Rodgers only winning one SB & shouldn't be considered, you have to remember there are only a handful of QBs who has won multiple SB's.

Oh please enough with the Rodgers love fest......isn't this a Saints board?

It's a pure arm talent thing. He can just make throws that only he and maybe Mahomes can make. It's not taking into account all of the intangibles that make Brees so amazing.

Plus IMO Rodgers doesn't get to work with an elite offensive mind/playcaller like Payton, McVey, McDaniels or Shanahan.

I think it comes down to the core persona of the adolescent peter-worshipping of the Big Sports Media.

Brady and Rodgers are manly gunslingers. Firing and hitting at will, because they can. In contrast, Brees is a cerebral facilitator and surgeon, and thus with too much even yin-yang ratio to be perceived as a testosterone QB poster boy.

Rodgers is also given royalty status as he was the worthy recipient of the golden sceptre of Lord Favre. He's gruffly and turns his chicks over every few years. Lord Brady is wed to a super-model, and, Brady gets revered also because he knocked up his prior girlfriend and had a kid that way.

Brees of course is good ole family guy, and too plain. To big sports media dudes, Brees drinks autumnal mead.

I guess this is a reaction thread about the slobbering love fest over Rodgers the announcers had last night, continuously mentioning he's the best QB in football, while the previous Monday they were talking about Dallas as Drew was slicing and dicing Washington which at the time was the (I think) #1 rated defense in yards allowed. You'd think Rodgers walks on water if you just heard Tessitore, Witten, and Booger talk about him during the game.

So obviously the question is, what makes him the best QB in football?
Cam Newton has better stats than Rodgers in completion %, 1st down %, as many wins... only Rodgers' TD/INT ratio is better than Newton, but Newton has been sacked only 9 times whereas Rodgers has been sacked 19 times, and Newton has 208 yds + 3 TDs rushing.

But as it's been noted before, Rodgers plays for one of the NFL's sacred cows, and therefore, announcers must slobber over him.

The extent to which I care about the knee pad busting Rodgers' love fest, it gets really annoying when you are half-watching a game.

This. As I’ve said on here too, several times.
You said it better. ?

:idee-puis-non: He wears the league's most fashionable knee braces better than anyone else???

Seriously, stop for a moment and consider just what he's done this year. The man has blisters on his shoulders from almost single-handedly carrying his team to (near) the top of the NFC North. And he's doing so while getting pulverize in almost every game.

He deserves the accolades he's getting this year. But if he doesn't get some help from his team soon, he's going to need more than just his State Farm agent. :covri:

Rodgers is good, but he is terribly over-rated.

As for Brady, I lose some respect when Garrapulo, Cassell, and Brissett can win in that system too. Put any of those guys on the Saints with the possible exception of Garrapulo and we're a 4 win team.

Great angle and valid imo.

Cause allowing receivers to catch balls on the sideline when they have no timeouts is great QB play, not bad defense, unless it’s Brees.
