Thank God it’s Friday. Nothing wrong with what the Saints did here. Also everyone in the media loves to dogpile on the Catholic Church but the issue of sexual abuse and subsequent covering up isnt just inherent to the Catholic Church - it’s a pandemic across society that effects every line of work, social group, sports, politics, schools, and of course churches too. It’s good that it’s brought to light but it seems like media coverage is disproportionately directed at the Catholic Church as opposed to every other industry which has had massive sexual assault issues that were swept under the rug.

I'm sorry but the church ( not just Catholics) is in a different category than other parts of society because they claim a certain ethical code that other institutions do not.

Yeah, the team doesn't have to say a lot. Keep it really short, really sweet, and non-specific regarding the plaintiff's attorney's claims.

People don't care about facts. Judgements will be made before details are released. Judgements will be made by reading headlines. People who dislike your team will run with the spin and ignore the details. Better to just listen to the teams lawyers then to make haste decisions. People who hate will ignore reason anyways.

Coming from someone who lives in PA but loosely follows Penn State football.

In the Saints example, they allegedly helped the same leadership that was in charge during the sexual abuse.

Actually, the priests whose names the team was helping advise the release of names for being involved in pedophilia were actively abusing kids back in the 70's and 80's in the New Orleans Archdiocese. I remember reading the entire list when it came out. The current "Administration" had nothing to do with what was going on back then. The Archbishop in New Orleans has only been in his position in this century.

If Gayle’s name or is not included in any of the emails, it has nothing to do with her. And even if so, it does not make her guilty of anything, UNLESS she was referred to in knowledge.

i am assuming, as most probably agree, Tom Benson gave millions of dollars to the Catholic church and some schools. That does not make him guilty of anything. Now if his name is associated and connected in anyway with emails that indicate a donation given specific in nature or remotely relative to a request from the Archdiocese to help pay for an abuse case (or many) that is a different story and would certainly be very disappointing and downright disgusting.

I hope and I pray, the latter is not the case. We shall see.

same as Jehovah's Witnesses. They are up there with the Catholic Church when it comes to pedophilia. Their rules are BS in regards to it also. Churches are FULL of this.

I don't think anyone is being accused of covering up pedophilia in this case. It's the corporate response that the Church has decided to use which people find so appalling. Make it all public. Own up to what was done, who did it, and make restitution. Stop trying to "soften the blow" or whatever the frick.

Make restitution? They should be prosecuted AND pay restitution to all parties. And if Gayle ends up being part of a conspiracy (which we have absolutely no idea), she should be forced to sell the Ssints and Pelicans. Everything right now is PURE CONJECTURE and speculation, without any of the emails and the context of those emails provided.

everyone can have their own opinion. doesnt make either one of us wrong.

i 100% KNOW about the BS with jehovahs witnesses and their rules and the pedophilia in that business (not religion). its no secret that other churches have this going on. just do google searches. i know its not EVERY church in EVERY city, and i never said it was EVERY church. thats a broad/general/blanket statement. what i said, is a fact.
