The prospect of Brees and Hill splitting time at QB looks dayum good I tell ya! Expect that as a grooming process for Hill during Brees' farewell season. Hill can prove it when it matters most- 2020 season

He HAS been racking is brain ?Pretty well thought out post. I really could not poke any holes in your position. There are so many variables that NO one in this forum could ever envision and put together as a singular plan by Payton and co., to move this team into the future, that I would say your view is as good as any other, I have read. And I have read 10’s of such.
If we are smart, we make him the most dynamic hybrid TE/WR in the entire NFL.
I believe he has the opportunity to catch 70-80 passes for 1,100-1,200 yards per season.
Hopefully Payton has enough sense to see this.
Then you let him go when that time arrives. That's what we might want but that doesn't seem to be what he wants. He wants to be a QB and when he's a FA he'll go where that opportunity is best.
Brees will not sign any deal that locks him into more than 1 year. It may go 2-3 for cap purposes but will have another void clause after this year. So, what is Sean Payton thinking, Why would he hype a player he wants to resign? I can think of one very good reason.
Brees is coming back and for how long is an open question, 1,2,3 years? Even 2 is a long time for Taysom to be patient.
So, I think Payton feels he has to convince Tayson the opportunity is real to keep him from pursuing another team.
Consider if Payton had instead downplayed Taysom's potential to be a franchise QB to keep his price tag reasonable. We'd have the JOAT for one more year and then Free Agent Tayson would be gone.
My uninformed guess is that they want to keep Tayson in the fold with a multiyear fair value contract and they can only do that if Taysom believes he is the heir apparent and thinks he is getting paid what he is worth in the marketplace. So hype him as the future, let the market decide his value and sign him for three years.

If Brees has next year in him, it’s the last. I feel that is almost guaranteed. So this year you try to get Hill at what the market value sets at For one year. Then you sign him to starter contract for about three years. Good money but not elite for say a three year deal. Then if he pans out as an elite QB, you restructure that into an elite but team friendly contract. At his age it will make sense for him to restructure instead of trying to make it to free agency. Unless he steps in to full time starting role this year, I don’t think anyone is going to try and out bid us next year.
Payton and Taysom's agent will not be able to drive his perceived value as a QB up enough for someone to give us a 1st round pick for him... but it cost nothing to try.I believe it’s to drive Taysom’s value up. I don’t think he’s the future at QB because too many people in the media claim he will be. They’re usually wrong on these type of things.

I'm unsure if that is how it works. I thought a tender offer could and most likely would be for multiple years. For example. The Raiders could offer Taysom 3 years for $40M, $15M guaranteed and front load the first year at $15M to put the saints in a cap bind.
Am I wrong about this? Are all the offers for a tendered RFA limited to one year?
