Saints Jameis Winston to N.O (merged - officially signed) (1 Viewer)

It's pretty clear that this is an exchange for Teddy Bridgewater. We can hope that it's one of those plug and not play situations.

How is he going to be "arrogant" now - after being so destructively humbled? There's zero chance ANYONE would be allowed to be a locker room cancer. That much has been exceedingly clear for years.

Exactly. SP isn't going to put up with anything like that. He had no problem showing Jimmy the door. Cooks ran his mouth, Cooks was traded. Junior was our best pass rusher and releasing him had bad cap consequences but SP let him go anyway.

Players either buy in or they're gone. Really simple.

I hate this move. In my opinion, Jamis doesn't possess any leadership qualities. From stealing crab legs, sexually assaulting Uber drivers, eating W's, to coming off the bench to hit Latimore. He's immature, and how do I say this nicely, he's not a genius.

So I looked up available free agent QBs we could have gotten, and the signing makes a little more sense, but I still don't like it.

Who's available: Flacco, Newton, Bortles, Josh McCown, Mike Glennon, Geno Smith, Trevor Siemian.

I would have rathered Bortles or McCown, maybe even Flacco.

But, maybe no one would come for cheap or be willing to sit behind Drew.

Either way, it was pretty slim pickens and of the QBs available who has a better chance of winning a few games for us if Drew goes down: Winston, Bortles, McCown, or Flacco? I guess coach thought Winston.

1 year deal, sure. Drew was 27 when he signed here in 2006. Jameis is 26 now. Not really comparing them in anything but age, but I wonder how well Sean could work with him.

I mean it's no secret Drew is about out. And if you will pardon the rosiest glasses and stupid optimism on this, remember another failed Tampa Bay QB that had success with another team. Think he won them a Super Bowl after taking over from the GOAT. Eerie similarities.

Many of us don't remember but Brees was a high interception QB when before Sean Payton

from that standpoint, he is serviceable. The game plan for almost all backup situation is not to do what Teddy did. That wasn't out game plan, for him to win all those games. I think before the first game is you told Sean "hey Drew is out for 6 weeks, you can play the games or we will give you 3-3 right now" he probably takes the 3-3. If a backup can play that many games and do .500 your season is not over. And I think Winston could give us some wins if it had to happen. Lets pray to God it doesn't have to happen again.

I mean, it changes nothing regarding Taysom's future. Jameis is only the Teddy stopgap so we can keep the Taysom plays intact.

"Trevor Lawrence is just a five year stopgap so Taysom can still be our swiss army knife, but Taysom is the future"

-Saints fans in the year 2026

So objectively speaking, there's no way Hill could beat out Jameis in an open QB battle. If Jameis matures this season under Drew and SP, then we have a top 5 QB for the next 5-10 years. Simply put - he is that good.

Drew will put him through a training regiment unlike anything he has ever seen. He will study more film than he has in HS, college, or TB combined. He will learn how to avoid those turnover by being prepared and knowing what tricks the defense is trying to play. Drew and SP are going to unlock all of his potential. I really like this.

And as a side note, shame on Bruce Arians. I get it, Jameis wasn't your guy. But, he never even gave him a chance and blamed everything on him. Yes, 30 ints in a season is awful. But so is no run game, no oline, and no defense. There were much more issues than just Jameis. He 100% scapegoated him, and I've actually been pretty suprised at Jameis's restraint in the aftermath - outside of his "replaced by Tom" comment.

At this point im sure Taysom has to realize his chances of being a starting NFL QB are slim to none. I love his tenacity and drive to be that guy, but I think he might realize his best chance to be an NFL star is staying right where he is as a jack of all trades threat.

Now that isn't to say some other team couldn't pay him more to be that guy. They most certainly can and probably will try to.

He gonna get fat eating so many w's

Juxtapose this with:

To the other team. Then there's that little matter of raping women and grabbing them against their will. Great acquisition.
Because since being accused means you're guilty, get out of here with that. Sexual assault is a serious crime, but accusations aren't always true. He was never found guilty and settled out of court. A future wealthy football player seems like a good moneymaking target to me..
