Not only are the bands named after cities better than the ones named after states, but the bands named after streets are better than the ones named after states as well.

According to Oderus Unguers, bands named after geographic places was an important era in music history. Which is why Gwar decied to cover Kansas

Pretty sure there's a Berlin somewhere in the US.

yes apparently there is one in New Hampshire. I had to look because during WW2 many places named after anything German were renamed. The streets that run parallel to Napoleon Blvd uptown were all originally named after Napoleons famous victories. Milan, Mirango, etc. General Pershing St was originally name Berlin Street but changed during or right after the war. If you are real quiet late at night you can still hear the voices carrying on the street.

What about album names?

Remember when Sufjan Stevens was gonna do an album for each state - then he just did the two states he knows? 😂

Illinois was pretty good.

I was looking forward to his songs about Kenner and the Westbank on album number 17, "Let's Holler at Loser-iana."

Technically, Nirvana is the highest mental "state" that can be achieved.

We'll make Nirvana a place on Earth.
