So people are actually happy with Winston’s play? (1 Viewer)

Jesus, I don't know what's so hard about understanding that...I wouldn't take a 2 year at a "discount" rate if I'm already pledged a 1 year at a discount rate...you're already kneecapping your year 2 raise before you play a snap...a year 2 that if you don't play well enough you're not going to see anyway.
It's so weird to me that in a league where one-year "prove it" deals for players coming off injuries or a bad season are commonplace, that the concept utterly escapes people when Jameis is involved.

Yes... that one. Brees said "gain depth don't step up" ...
Ehhhh...IDK, he gains depth and takes sack then it's a longer FG, the TD OTOH while it would've been nice, wasn't 100% necessary in this situation given how poorly SEA's offense was doing. Protect the points was the snap decision, turned out to work.

We won, so I didn't spend too much time analyzing that micro-decision.

He has a qb rating of 102.4 right now. Why wouldn't we be happy? 13 tds 3 ints. He's playing smart football with a depleted wr corps and keeping drives alive by sheer will.
Nope...I'm ready to bench him for a 4th Rd ROOKIE QB who threw a piss poor INT in preseason against camp bodies.

And clearly he had a few moments of ‘oh, I can play hero ball right here’ and then thought better of it and ate the ball
We’ve clearly seen growth over these 6 games

He should have dumped this. This one I have to put on Jameis but not I also don't know what he saw or was thinking but when JJ released, he could have went there. The only thing I could think is it was the angle that DE had, he felt he could have deflected it but JJ would have walked that in.
I'm thinking that he wanted the clock to continue running.

Yep...and the comp % I'm willing to let go of because of the potential for splash plays. He doesn't need to be DB 75% accurate...hell that's what Teddy is doing in Den and the whole world is ready to dump him.

To clarify, we don't need that insane % because we don't need 3 4yd passes for a 1st down anymore...an incompletion on 2nd down and a 11 yarder on 3rd down works just as good now.

Yeah that was the right decision. The defense was there so fast throwing it would have been one of those risky/dumb decisions and an incompletion stops the clock.

Point is your not playing to win a game against a 2-4 team with a backup QB. Your playing to win a Super Bowl.
A win on the road in hostle environment with terrible weather is a good win. We still control our own destiny with 11 games left. I don't think anyone is expecting us to win the super bowl this year. Do you?

Given the circumstances (WR room, crappy conditions, etc) I thought he played well.

Again, the early results are focusing on PROTECTING the ball, and he's done a fairly good job. I think the production will come if the WR/TE group plays better and he's more familiar with the system.

222 yds and a touch with zero interceptions/fumbles is playing at a high level in the NFL given last night's circumstances.
