do you think this player would still be around by the 10th pick 2nd rd? (1 Viewer)

Too many times Steltz has been out of position and cost LSU big. He may be All American, but I do not see what the fuss is about. He is slow, he doesn't consistantly make the tackle, does not have that great anticipation, 3 of his four INT's came very easily against VT (looked like they were trown right too him, he didn't have to jump the route or even battle anyone for them) and he has been just as confused on deep balls and where he should be as Bullocks. I don't see him as an upgrade in any way. If the Saints took him in the second round, I would be just as upset as I was when they took Henderson, probably more, becuase as inconsistant as Henderson is, Brees helped him to have one good season. There is no NFL QB that is going to help Steltz. Anyone with Brees' talent will make Steltz a perrinial special teams player, and I wouldn't spend more than a 7th on a SP teams player with no potential to contribute in any compacity on defense.

I really don't care if the Saints draft him. I don't think he is a first day pick nor do I really want him. I just find it funny that the reasoning used is because he is too slow. Comical.

But let me give you a little hint. He is just as fast as Roman Harper. OH NOES!

And what position does Harper play? Strong safety, not free. Thanks for backing up my case for me.

Don't even. You and most others are the ones acting as if he has no place in any secondary because of his lack of speed.

Oh and FYI Josh Bullocks runs a 4.51, which I expect Steltz to better during the combine or his pro day. :9:

But once again, I'm not here to argue about whether or not Stetlz should be drafted by the Saints or where he shoudl go in the draft. But it won't be because of his speed that his draft position will drop. He's got the speed to play in an NFL secondary.

I think he will drop due to a combination of his speed and fluidity. Some guys can have a slower 40 but they have great body movement and they can compensate for their straight-line speed that way. I think Steltz will be like Bullocks: a good run defender, a liability in coverage. The only difference is I think Steltz is a harder hitter and better at causing turnovers. Of course, Bullocks was known as a ball hawk in college and is terrible at it now so who knows.
