Took long enough! I still remember when he "married" Aaliyah and everyone just basically turned a blind eye.
I was so obsessed with her that I honestly didn't realize how utterly forked up it was. I don't know that I even believed it. I was too young and ignorant.

I've deliberately avoided any and all details surrounding R. Kelly's case for years. I scrolled past the documentary on Netflix like, "Nope."

I did not want to know the details because he's my favorite male solo artist ever.

So I read about it for the very first time today. And I will have to process it in pieces over time.

Ex-girlfriend is obessessed with the man and nothing could convince her that he did anything wrong despite Aaliyah, despite the video, despite whatever. I would imagine she's somewhere blasting his music in protest.

You have to be able to separate the art from the artist. That's what I tell myself anyway (it's amazing how many times I've had to invoke that mantra in my lifetime, SMH).

But I already know that once I uncover the details, I'm going to believe it. I just don't know if it's worth it.

To discover his heinous behavior and possibly deprive myself of the pure, unbridled joy I get from his music in the process.

It's not like I'll ever be buying another R. Kelly CD or going to a concert. Is it supporting him if I listen to music I already own?

The horrific deeds are already done. Why sully one of the few things that still bring me joy? So many questions. So many things to figure out.

Well now, he won’t get any profits whenever his music is streamed or bought anymore. So there’s that.

I believe Sony is already withholding millions in royalties already. The prosecution wants to seize them to pay off fines.
