Rizzi: Missed field goal the fault of "all three" Saints specialists (1 Viewer)

Sounds like the PC answer. Don’t blame one guy. Let the team share the blame.

Here's the video. Basically said the non-call on roughing the punter, the punter should have had some protection. You can't just lay him out. On the missed field goal, he blamed the snap, hold and kick. Said that can't happen. It was shorter than an extra point. On the "blocked" punt, they were set up with a four man rush, up the middle. It was not an all out rush because Carolina is known for pulling fakes. It was ruled a fumble because the ball had not yet gotten to his foot.

Rizzi has more fire than DA. He was fuming on the sidelines!

I guess it happens sometimes when the rusher is completely unblocked, but that's the first time I have ever seen a punt blocked as it was dropped. The punters leg had just started to move, and the ball was picked off before it touched his foot.

Rizzi and DA both interviewed for the Dolphins head coaching job in 2019. Several Dolphins players including Reggie Bush and Jarvis Landry came out in strong support for Rizzi to get the job.

The Dolphins ultimately went with Brian Flores and Coach Rizzi came to New Orleans. He's definitely loved by his players and not just the special teams guys.

I’ve heard multiple times that Rizzi is head coaching material. Any strong opinions one way or the other?

Didn’t see that in the article just talked about DJack as DA called him lol
You have to listen to it. The Saints aren't going to put something "negative" in writing.

The missed kick was 100% on Grupe. Not the greatest hold, but does not matter from that distance.
Kicking a field goal involves the long snapper, holder, and kicker perfectly executing their jobs. A bad snap or bad placement of the ball can contribute to an inaccurate or blocked kick attempt. It's more than just the kicker.

I said during the game and I’ll say now, Rizzi should get a shot at this team. He coaches with fire and passion and gives a damn! His emotion is something sorely lacked on our sidelines!
