Rizzi: Missed field goal the fault of "all three" Saints specialists (1 Viewer)

A missed or made kick is rarely 100% on any one player. It takes the snapper, holder, and kicker working in unison to make it work.
Kicked for 5 years back in high school. I agree with you completely, but that kick in particular was on Grupe. From that distance you could kick with the laces facing you and easily push it through. The hold did mess with his timing, which usually results in a less powerful kick since your approach is interrupted (and yes, every part of the kicking unit needs improvement). Am I saying I could make the kick right now? Not a shot. But should an NFL kicker from that distance? Yes, unless the hold is fumbled or snap is horrific. Not trying to bash Grupe, but those are gimmes.

Rizzi and DA both interviewed for the Dolphins head coaching job in 2019. Several Dolphins players including Reggie Bush and Jarvis Landry came out in strong support for Rizzi to get the job.

The Dolphins ultimately went with Brian Flores and Coach Rizzi came to New Orleans. He's definitely loved by his players and not just the special teams guys.
He shows alot of passion. Something we haven't had since SP left. If DA did get fired during the season I was hoping he would be the interim.

The punter loses his protection once he starts moving. That's the downside to rugby style.

The missed kick was 100% on Grupe. Not the greatest hold, but does not matter from that distance.
not true. Did you not see the holder did not spring the ball enough. The laces are supposed to be forward for a reason. Thatlines up the back seem with the foot, if it is kicked between the seemsthe ball flexes more causing it to want to turnaway from the closes seem where the ball gets more solid.

I’ve heard multiple times that Rizzi is head coaching material. Any strong opinions one way or the other?
Rizzi is easily our best coordinator. Nut a jump from STC to HC is a big one and he's never been a OC or DC

He loses protection for "roughing the punter" but there's also "unnecessary roughness" which can be called on anyone. That's what the Saints wanted called. They knew the rule.
