N/S MNF: Lions vs Niners (1 Viewer)

Yeah, the winner of the game next week will win the division, regardless of the outcome of this game. The only thing this game affected was who gets to be in first place this week.

One team is going to be 14-3 and have to play their first game on the road. That's not fair Imo. Shades of 2010
when we had to travel and play the 7-9 Seahawks on the road.

I think, at least until the current 14 team format where only the one seeds get a bye, the Saints were the only team to win 13 games and not get a bye. Happened in both 2011 and 2019.

Nah, '99 Titans went 13-3 and were bridesmaids for the 14-2 Jags. Also of note is that the '87 Saints likely woulda been another 13-3 wildcard team if not for the canceled week that year since the niners were 13-2 and we were 12-3.

Fun fact: That season, counting playoffs, the Jaguars were 0-3 against the Titans and 15-0 against the rest of their schedule.

Lastly, tonight's game wasn't 100% inconsequential, just very close to it. By winning, the Lions still get the 1 seed with a tie against the Vikings but the Vikings woulda gotten the 1 seed with a tie had the Lions lost. I have such a seething hatred for the Vikings that I'd love nothing more than to see them finish 14-2-1 just to have to go to Tampa and get smoked like a cheap brisket.

Maybe it was that they were the only 13 win division winners not to get a bye?

That may be the case. If I get bored, I may research 47 seasons for the heck of it so we can get some closure.

I know it's Quora, but this is the only thing I could find.

The 2019 Saints were the only division winner that didn't make it to the divisional round. They lost
the WC game in Mn.

Titans were 13-3,but not division winners. I'd personally count the 87 12 3 Saints as well.

It warms my heart any time I see someone lowkey sheet on Quora lol.

yes, it's not something I usually don't use when trying to find facts. There is no quick answer with a search.
I would take some homework

The Saints were division winners in 2011 at 13-3. They didn't get a bye,but they beat Det. in the WC game.

Oh, I remember it well. It also sticks in my craw that both the niners and Packers were the teams that got the byes we shoulda had in both 2011 and 2019.
