Vehicle plows into crowd on Bourbon St., with 14 fatalities (2 Viewers)

Problem being we just had a discussion less than 24 hours prior about how much I hated the holidays, and my reasons why (a ton of personal setbacks in Nov/Dec) and she said she really wanted to make these holidays special. That night I opened up about one last thing and she ended the relationship-with a text. We did talk at length the following day. I assured her it was now over, period, and advised her to behave like an adult in her next relationship.

Point of order-she was in a 20-year verbally and physically abusive marriage for which she never sought adequate counseling. My last bit of advice to her was to get counseling for her sake and the sake of her 3 children aged 16-21. A friend of mine who is a counselor said her behavior was unfortunately textbook for victims of abusive marriages. Reach a certain point in the relationship, get scared by the emotions they feel, then end the relationship on any pretense at all.

Were she someone I knew as a friend, my advice to her would be therapy to understand why she stayed in a relationship like that so long and to understand how NOT to get into another one like that. Sounds like she doesn't have any idea what she's doing relationship-wise.

I think it’s a marriage of convenience. Landry wants the state to take over New Orleans because it’s the economic engine of the state and he knows that if the city tanks, he has a major problem.

LaToya is checked out and more than happy to toss the keys to someone else so she can go back to doing absolutely nothing on our dime.

Win/win
Those two deserve each other.

She said, and I quote, "This is not a terrorist event." She announced prematurely that it was not terrorism. She didn't wait to declare or classify anything accurately. She got it 100% wrong, and did so prematurely. She made a mistake, or was given bad information, but let's not act like she and/or the FBI had all her/their ducks in a row.
She did not get it wrong. She announced it appropriately according to the FBI's guidelines. There are certain things that have to be established and confirmed before the FBI, or any agency can say it was a terrorist attack. As pointed out yesterday.

That first PC was only a few hours after the event, if that, while evidence was still being gathered.

From what I thought I heard, the money they're spending was money they specifically got to fix things up in time for the Super Bowl.

I think it probably is. Just saying they are doing all this work in the tourist areas while the rest of the city falls apart.

its amazing how little folks truly know about how federal law agencies work.

Shoot, any law enforcement agency.

I'm still not sure it's what most would consider a "terrorist attack" rather than a mass murder. He had the ISIS flag, but he appears to have no connections to the actual ISIS organization. No contact, no equipment, nothing from ISIS. Seems like he may have been a deeply disturbed person who seized on ISIS as justification to kill others because he snapped.

Maybe they find more and it turns out he had those connections, but it doesn't look like it at this point.

But, in the end it doesn't matter what you call it. 15 people are dead and many others are injured. That's what's important.
