Sneaux next week [Historic snowstorm in southeast Louisiana on January 21, 2025]

Where? (As mentioned, I like to take note of all of them)
There's another WD -> Aldi convert happening in Prairieville, if that's in your radius

The Terrytown Winn Dixie closed last fall to be converted into an Aldi. Another one in Algiers was supposed to close also and re-open as an Aldi, but it appears to be hanging on as a Winn Dixie for now.

There's one more West Bank Winn Dixie, in Marrero. There's already an Aldi in Marrero, so maybe that Winn Dixie will be kept around.
The Algiers location is closing soon. It can't happen soon enough. That Winn Dixie is a hell hole of last resort.

Just a little outside. lol (107 miles) But it's still interesting catching up with how many Aldi's are popping up all of a sudden the last couple years. The one in Slidell opened up in the old Toy R Us building. The one in Covington I think -- I THINK -- was a new build.

COVID delayed the onset of Aldi in southeast Louisiana.

There was a closed Toys R Us store in Marrero that was supposed to be the first Aldi in the New Orleans area. Early in 2020, they started advertising for open positions to staff the store, including management trainees.

It never came to pass, though. It would be another three-and-a-half years before Marrero got its Aldi store, and it was a new build.

It was. (New build in Covington)
Not as large as a Winn Dixie footprint, but large enough. Stays busy.

Maybe that’s why it’s my least favorite of the 4 (I think) ones I’ve been to down here
I like when they’re like hermit crabs just moving into whatever shell is available

My favorite was the first I went to in Chattanooga- it had more clearly branded German stuff
Not sure if that was a previous business model or just that Chatta has lots of Germans there

Sat morning and still have patches in front lawn. Roof facing north still has some snow left as well.
I was happy to see a little satsuma-sized patch still on my front lawn. Of the areas not in shadow, that's it.

The houses across the street from us still have enough snow to do small snowmen and stuff. It "iced up" overnight, though -- harder to work with in your hands.

Noodling around on Maps it seems interstate is still not open
Today it will be close to full sun and high reaching the high 50s in the NOLA metro area. Overnight lows in the mid.40s.

Tomorrow, slightly cloudier but still a bright day, with both the highs and lows about 10 degrees warmer.

Monday, still highs in the 60s with morning rain. That really, really should finish off the ice on the major roadways.

EDIT: I take it you didn't make it to Natchitoches?
