Do Y'all Want Shedeur Sanders if He Drops to 9?

Should the Saints draft QB Shedeur Sanders if he falls to #9?

My no definitely has a lot to do with fear of his dad inserting himself and publicly criticizing coaching etc when things don’t go our way. We are rebuilding and are going to lose a lot of games, we don’t need a high profile dad trying to usher his son out of town and into a bigger market/better team.
Exactly what I said. It has nothing to do with his ability to play football. Nobody shared your opinion when Archie stood up for Eli. Many fathers have done this. Yet Deion is being targeted for it. Only one reason I can think of.

What is the only reason you can think of?

For me, it's Archie didn't make himself a high profile public figure. He didn't constantly seek public attention. He didn't very publicly say controversial things. Archie also didn't assert himself into the Giant's decisions or criticize them publicly after Eli was drafted. It's very likely that Deion will do both of those things to whichever team drafts Sanders.

Archie Manning also didn't play for the Falcons and then shun the Saints to sign with the Cowboys, so there's that fan element as well.

This is exactly my feeling.

Indifferent.

I think he’s a 2nd round talent…. That will get sacked 5 times a game as a rookie if he has to start.

I also think his Dad would cause a bunch of media mess should his situation here go sideways.

All that said, if Moore thinks he is the QB of the future (considering Carr is our starter this year barring injury) - and Moore thinks he’s worth a top 10 pick…. Then okay…. Sit him a season to learn….

I’m indifferent because we have to start drafting QBs highly every year until we find one. This year is no exception if Moore thinks he’s the guy.

And sure I’d rather have potential help at WR, TE, RB etc at 9…. But then I remember the word I typed before help.

I learned my lesson with Lamar Jackson. When we traded up that year I didn’t want us to trade up for Lamar. I was glad we took Davenport instead. Granted had we stayed put I would’ve been fine with it, but I didn’t want to give up two first round picks for a guy that I wasn’t sure about. Well I was wrong. It would’ve been worth two first round picks.
When you have a chance to grab a quarterback that has the potential to be a winner, you don’t pass on it. You take it every time. Years ago we had a shot of Aaron Rodgers and we passed. I wanted to take a shot on Jalen Hurts in the second round and we didn’t. We need to use the opportunity to try to become special again at quarterback.
We’re gonna miss on it sometimes but we gotta keep swinging. That’s what Houston, Green Bay, and the Ravens did and they hit it. Yes a lot of other teams have tried and missed. But you have to keep trying because that’s the one position you have to get right and you need a quarterback on a rookie contract.

Drafting Sanders would be a gargantuan mistake, one that might set us back 3-4 more years on top of the next 3-4 years we are going to be wondering in the desert. Sander is not a very polished QB, not a very strong arm either. This draft is weak on QBs, neither Ward nor Sanders would be a top 10 or top 20 selection in next year's draft. We need to be very serious and make a non-sexy pick ala James Pearce, or Armand Membou or even Jalon Walker. We need Edges, OT, DLs.

No he's a QB. You'll see.

Carr is that you? Nothing this dude has shown since he's been in the league suggests he will "shine" as you say. He's average
Put some talent around him and see lol

Personally, no I don't think he's a top half of the first guy. That said, if KM believes strongly that he's our guy for the future, I'll defer to him with a sigh or two.

What would be interesting is if we made a move for someone like Joe Milton. He and Rattler do share some similarities in arm talent and moxie as well as inconsistent accuracy and decision making, but Milton sure has some intriguing upside and his ability to run adds another dimension we haven't had in a long time.

I wouldn't draft him there if is me, there are going to be 4-6 guys on the board that I'd rather have than Sanders, but I also would not be mad if Moore wanted him. Moore + Sanders would be so much more fun to watch than what we have seen since before DB9 got old. I figure the vote will be heavily slanted no, because of the overwhelming ridiculous clown show that would follow because of his dad. So, from a football standpoint, I'm gonna vote yes. I'd love to watch Moore develop a strong armed capable minded QB in an offense Moore can develop around him.

Then why are you using an example from 20 years ago lol. Seems like it’s not that common

I get not wanting to draft the son of Prime, but I also don't think some posters give Sanders enough credit. 2 years at Colorado, nearly a 72% comp rate, 7300 passing yards, 64 TDs (plus another 8 rushing TDs) and only 13 Ints. While his arm strength isn't "elite" he absolutely has PLENTY of velocity to be an NFL QB. He may struggle adjusting to having fewer WR routes, unless he ends up in a pass happy offense, but I think he will make the adjustment and be at a minimum an adequate starter in the NFL. I think his floor is Derek Carr, but his ceiling could be immensely higher.
