Marquez Valdes-Scantling signs with Seahawks to 1-year deal worth up to $5.5 million (7 Viewers)

Cutting a current WR who is under contract, to then have to replace them AND absorb a dead cap hit?

Phenomenal decision making.
You could easily replace him with a UDFA or the already signed Petis and you can’t be serious with the dead money. It’s a million dollars. You’d save 2.4mil by releasing him. Not wasting salary cap on easily replaceable underperforming vets sounds like phenomenal decision making to me.

Good for him. Appreciate what he was able to do last year... But if Shaheed is back healthy, they bring nearly the same skillset to the table..
Welp, so much for depth at speed.. and that "IF" Shaheed is back healthy to me is concerning.. Saints have their #1 & 2 WR's with ? marks and no serious depth outisde of Wilson or Pettis..smh.. how they let Scantling get away is beyond me, perhaps it'll come down to the draft, but the skill-set that Scantling brought last year was nice, and for that all I can really say is thank you, Kubiak made his move for a nice piece, but still, he got away, ohhhhh them Saints!.. LoL!

You're caught up in the idea that Wilson 'isn't good enough' and so cutting him has to happen.

He's a depth guy at a cheap cost. That he isn't your favourite doesn't matter. It shouldn't cost the team $1m, plus the cost of finding a replacement, just because you don't notice his impact.

FYI He and Pettis do different things in the offence. Try to understand how personnel packages work.

His cost should be minimum. He will cost the team 3.4m to keep him. It’s a business, get over your personal feelings.

Hoping we grab a difference maker at WR in the draft. I know that’s a crap shoot but I do have hope.

Don't worry, it's all good.

I find it endlessly amusing that fans get attached to a street free agent who was an injury fill in for a few games, whose role in the offense already belongs to someone else much better, and now those fans' spittle and invective gets directed at some unappreciated vet whose only crime is managing to remain on the team.

I've seen it plenty of times before, you're not the first, nor will you be the last.

Just like you won’t be the last fan aruging over a bum WR costing 1mil in dead cap when cutting them actually saves us 2.4mil

I find if you repeat things over and over people understand it better.

Keep up. I'm arguing over the fact you've decided he's a bum, just because the team like him at 2.4m, in his defined role, better than paying MVS 5.5m to do what Shaheed already does better and cheaper.

However we look at this, your personnel evaluation and maths suck. I bet you also think that A.T Perry is going to break out as the next NFL superstar any day now 🤪🤪

Can’t speak for Barr but I sure do still miss A.T. 😂😂😂

What are you even talking about dude 🤣 My comment about CWJ was soley about CWJ. You replied to the wrong person who said they would rather MVS.

My personnel evaluation sucks but you’re here talking about Cedric Wilson jr being irreplaceable, you’re insane.

It seems you're (easily) confused. Everything said so far has related to what you started with:

CWJ is doing nothing for us. We have an out in his deal were he’s only have 1 mil in deal money if we released him. We should consider that.
This, posted on a thread about MVS signing elsewhere, has the clear inference that you have decided MVS > Wilson and you've been spitting your dummy ever since.
