I’m convinced the Titans are still high on Will Levis

New coach gets to pick his new QB. There's no other realistic outcome. Pinning your hopes to an incumbent player that's already busted just speeds your exit from that job.

Fair enough, but the difference is, everyone knew Fields was a goner because it was painted that way at the end of the season. Everyone could see the writing on the wall that Fields was headed for a divorce from Bears, they were unhappy w/ his development.

Titans have not expressed those sentiments openly, it's been the reverse w/ Levis.

This is a quote from Feb 20, an article on NFL.com. The writer, even then, is pointing out how unlikely the Bears were to keep Fields. (a counter to your fields reference). Conviction, again..is a word I'm hanging on. If the Bears had a conviction on Fields, they likely would have traded 1st..but it was their lukewarm feeling towards him that made them open to keeping the #1 overall. For the Titans it's moving in reverse, everything they're doing suggest they are open to trade and that in itself suggest a conviction on Levis and a lukewarm feeling towards Cam.

That could change but it hasn't yet and we know this because they just openly asked for more compensation.

If Bears GM Ryan Poles decides he'd rather ride with Fields going forward (which, again, seems unlikely as things stand), the bounty Chicago would bring in by trading the top pick could not only set up the franchise for a deep playoff run as soon as next season, but also lead to the type of talent infusion that fuels consistent postseason appearances -- something this organization hasn't known since the 1980s.

Tennessee, intentionally or unintentionally, is talking out of their butt in every direction.

Will Levis is a stiff, though they are a team that has just about every season never put enough weapons on the field, including Quarterback.

Have they even had a QB you can remember after Steve McNair?

Cam Ward could be their next Steve McNair. They earned the pick by going 3-14. Borgonzi and young Callahan better not blow it, unless they are high on Sanders or Dart.

Steve was one of the best to ever do it, criminally underrated. I enjoyed watching my Titans back then.

I LOVE draft season. Playing Madden 12 hours a day lately just running sims and drafts haha. Hadn’t touched that game in 6 months prior lmao.
 
Whether or not the Titans are open to a trade, I do not think we should trade up that far to select him, and it doesn't mesh with the way we have approached our offseason thus far IMO.

I don't disagre, but those early words from the GM won't allow me to believe that was fluff at the time. I think that sentiment was very genuine, again could it change...absolutey.... but their sudden wreckless use of the media leads me to believe that now they are bluffing/talking out of their butts to trump up value.

I hope they do screw it up. Them believing in Levis wouldn't be a surprise. A former GM still does..

 
There is no way that Brian Callahan is going to risk his job another year by banking on a rebound year from Levis. He will absolutely take the chance that Ward is a franchise QB.

Brian Calahan is liekly going to do whatever the FO request of him if it's a collaborative effort. The words about Levis came directly from the GM. That's what makes the report so intersting. The below link was 26 days ago and the quote wouldn't have legs IF that wasn't what was said in early February by the GM. If those words about Levis would wouldn't have been said by the GM way back on Feb4. You know, following exit interviews, I'd def not argue this point as much as I'm doing and would agree w/ you.

Feb 4 is quite early to be playing Draft games leading me to believe those comments in the OP were very genuine.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported on the Scoop City Podcast that the Titans are discussing trading out of the pick and prefer to "make things work" with the 2023 second-round pick.

I think I'm right on this... I may not be right on if the Saints actually make the trade, but I do think the Titans are convinced that Levis still has untapped potential and would rather see him fulfil it in Tennessee than watch him put it together on another team like Sam Darnold did. That appears to be a true fear, and fear can lead to interesting decisions...like passing up on the potential 2nd coming of Steve McNair

Will Levis is in his 3rd year, on a $2.6M contract. He doesn't have to leave the Titans, unless they are sick of him on the field and in the locker room. Maybe Levis is the season starter, but maybe Ward takes over mid-season.

Again, if Tennessee likes Sanders, Dart, or someone else, or does not trust Cam Ward in comparison to prior year #1 QB's, then they're not wrong to consider getting a haul and still getting a QB early. I just don't want to see Mickey and Kellen splash a ton of future assets away. Not now. Keep the future #1's even though the Saints have a current baseline of mediocrity and not bottoming out to the top 5 pick or higher. Use this year to clean the cap up, add weapons, improve the OLine..

If Tennessee doesn't think Cam Ward fits as a #1 pick, should the Saints pay a king's ransom for that decision?
