Saints met with top QB prospect Cam Ward [Schefter: CLE, NYG or maybe Saints have to make an offer compelling enough for #1 pick]

They really don’t want the pick lol,

Yeah this really feels to me like they're saying to teams come with your best offers and lets do business. If they had any kind of conviction on Ward they would do what the Bengals did in 2020 and say they have no plans on trading the 1st overall. Can't pass on a potential franchise QB, especially a franchise like the Titans that have been starved for good qb play since Steve McNair

To this day it still cracks me up more people here than will ever admit actually believed the Bengals would ever give up Burrow.

Agreed. In addition to all the usual considerations, that was a situation practically tailored between a player and team. Home state kid coming off the greatest season ever for a college QB, and a team desperate for a new chapter and a face of the franchise type player.

I think it would be easy to read too much into how the Titans are working this. They hold the most valuable pick in the draft and it doesn't hurt their position in any way to see what kind of offers are out there.

Tennessee’s president said they want a generational talent with that pick.

It thats the case, they may not be willing to drop to 9. But…if we could work a deal with someone like Jacksonville or NYG first to get pick 3 or 4, then flip that pick to Tennessee, it might be more appealing for them since they’d still be in a position to get Hunter or Carrer.
Making the move to #1 cost even more.

IDK, it's just hard for me to imagine Mick making a move like that (three #1s considering we cannot afford to trade an elite player like Carolina did). What's the furthest we've jumped since he's been here? I don't even remember who the GM was with Ditka and the Ricky trade, or who the GM was for Sully.

Lol Titans are basically begging for someone to trade up. What's weird is if you think he's your franchise QB then you take him and it'd be hard for you to move off of him. So if no one offers the right trade package do you draft him knowing that you're not completely sold on him or do you draft the better player, Carter.

Would probably be 2018 where we went from 27 to 14 for Davenport and 2022 from 18 to 11 for Olave

Bill Kuharich for Ditka and the Ricky trade. I think it was Mueller for Sullivan. Both guys fired shortly thereafter, for reasons unrelated (although you can argue that Kuharich trading an entire draft for Ricky depleted the roster of youth/depth). If Loomis does this, I hope he enjoys the same fate as the first two.

I'm in the camp hoping he doesn't, but I can imagine Loomis making such a move if only for what we were willing to give up when we were chasing Deshaun Watson.
