Opinion If Jeanty is available at 9, we take him. No brainer.

I have a theory that the majority of the criticism stems from people's first exposure to Jeanty being the Penn State game and they aren't able to see him in any other light. There are critiques to make of him as with any player but speed's a tough sell.

So what are your criticisms of him?

I wouldn't say slow but speed has never been Kamara's forte. He gains yards with the best of em but was never a home run type of guy.

Kamar hit home runs early in his career. He hasn't been recently but that's probably more a function of not having a good OL or running scheme for many years.

Honestly, the only knock on Jeanty is positional value. If you believe that RB's shouldn't be drafted high (which is a completely valid opinion) then you're going to be picking the nits. He's a clean prospect.

We definitely need another young runner.

Don’t think that will be Jeanty unfortunately. Seems like the “secret” is out on him. I could see us eyeing someone in the 2nd or 3rd though depending on the grades and how the board falls.

I do not want to rely on Kendre anymore. He’ll be a nice bonus if he stays healthy but I don’t want to count on it.

Him running 4.55 would drop him out of the first round. It would make zero sense that he would run that slow. I haven't even heard it even remotely suggested that Jeanty is a slow back outside of this board.
He not getting drafted out of the 1st round. It doesn’t take a 40 time to tell that he’s an elite talent.

Yes I know this is just a guy in shorts going against air, but anyone can see just how ELITE this workout is. This kid is going to be special.

And no, there is zero chance he’s running a 4.55. 😂

I think there is that, size, whether he will be able to break tackles in the NFL the way he did in college, and what his long term durability will be as a smallish power back.

I'm not a fan of drafting RBs in the top 10, but I do think if a guy is a true generational talent at RB then you do it. But that means you have to pick all the nits before you take them in the top 10 and I think "generational talent" is overused.

That being said, in this draft, there seems to be a drop off in talent right around our #9 pick so if Jeanty falls to #9, you take him because he would be far and away a better player than anyone that is likely to be available at #9. The guys I would take over him at #9 are Ward, Carter, Graham, and Hunter, but none of them are going to be there at #9. Then again, Jeanty isn't going to be there at #9.

I would be tempted to take Warner or Tet over Jeanty, but mostly only because of positional value, but I'm not sure either would have the impact of Jeanty so I'd take Jeanty over them.

NGL, even as a strong advocate of his, this gives me slight pause. He passes the eye test for speed but it certainly would have been nice to get some sort of official time for confirmation. Almost makes you wonder why he’d avoid running.

He's letting his tape show is speed.
There’s no questions about Jeanty’s speed. I however literally had these same arguments last year on here when it came to Bowers athleticism. I maintained the same position for Bowers that I have for Jeanty in that the film and analytics show he’s a great athlete.

He’s the consensus best RB in the draft. He literally has nothing to prove to scouts in a 40 yard dash. Especially with all the advanced analytics that show he’s fast (21.7 mph and multiple other runs over 21+ mph). “draftniks” are likely the only people upset by this. I’ve literally heard zero chatter of any scouts/teams being upset about him not running. The film is so incredibly obvious that he’s very explosive.

He's the best player/prospect in the draft. He has nothing to prove.

This reminds me of 1998 when people were doubting Randy Moss because he played at Marshall and dominated. People thought he wouldn't translate, too skinny and lower level competition.

Overthinking Jeanty as a prospect is the same as overthinking Moss.
