2-2 start, what are your thoughts? (1 Viewer)

I think getting healthy and protecting guys from injury is the primary mindset to be in. I think we have a good team.

If you need to lose a few games to get guys to be healthy or stay healthy. You do it. If they can catch fire and win the next two weeks.

I think you go all in... They are a good team with no depth.

my concerns, is the point of no return. Each loss requires more effort to win the next game, and it seems to compound with each loss. An older injured teams' point of no return shows up quicker than say Cinci at 0-3. (for example, I have more faith that Cinci can dig out an 0-3 hole than i do the Saints) I think this also shows why you need a seemingly crazy angry coach that over obsesses on details in games that make the fans think, "wow he's obsessed". (Saban/Parcells/Payton) But the coaches themselves would say, "you dont know how fragile this team is like I do. And these little mistakes (Shaheed muff) for example will lead to losses quick and ultimately the teams point of no return. This imo, is what the great coaches guard against. Ever wonder why Saban goes off on a player while they are up by 40 in the 4th quarter? Thats why.

The first two wins were nice. I expect nothing this season. Likely 8-8 with just enough solid wins for Loomis to tell us to 'trust the process' and not fire DA. Same sh@t, different season.

Yes, I'm sure they "chose" not to get quality depth, opting instead to go with inferior players.

I mean, do some of you even read what you type before posting? Smh.

And no, it does not fall entirely on the coach to take the fall for everything. Decisions? Sure. Bone-headed mistakes? Uh, no.

Personally, I love Shaheed. I think he's a good guy with high character, which is my kind of player. But he's also a paid professional and should be held accountable when he makes a bad play like he did (and for the record, he probably did in the locker room). Ditto for Adebo for the PI call.
Yes, they did chose to get inferior players because thats all they could afford by their own cap strategy. They could only cheap out after multiple seasons on the oline being an issue. They boned up the last few years draft when going oline and dline and missing, or drafting a center a years after drafting a center. Going for freakish athleticism that doesn’t translate into production.

If the special teams coach didn’t talk with shaheed prior to that return muff, then he’s not doing his job. That’s also a reflection on DA

DA is just a passive coach, no animation on the sidelines, he doesn’t get on his players when they mess up and has no idea how to fix the end of game 2 min issue that he is the play caller for. The players may respect him, but they don’t fear him.

I can’t get my head around this take and the loyalty some of our fans have towards DA at this point. He’s head coach of this team and is therefore responsible for all of it. We’re in year 3 now, the same ridiculous mistakes are happening and the same close games are being lost in the same fashion.

It’s gone on for more than long enough now to be a reflection on him as a HC. He is what his record says he is, not very good. We’re well on our way to 8 or 9 wins, just missing out on the playoffs again and fans telling themselves we’ll get there next year because we were just a few stupid mistakes and close losses away. If/when that happens it’s time to close the book on this era of mediocrity and start again with a new HC/QB pairing. I really hope to be proven wrong by DA.
I don't have any loyalty to Allen or any other coach, but I tend to look things objectively.

- The Philly game, he didn't make 3 players to crash and let the tight end run free.

- The falcons game, he didn't grab Shaheed's hand, and that was enough for a win.

Allen is running a very good defence, they have given away some big plays; one against the cowboys, two against Philly, and an interference against Atlanta.

And as of now, I think he has hired two great coordinators for the offense and special teams.

The problem right now is based on depth and excecution.

Few teams have an excellent head coach, I won't consider Allen on that level, but he is doing a good job this year.

Anyways, not loyalty, just an opinion.

This is a .500 football team that has a more competent play caller on offense. Will not overcome many mistakes during a game. Team has talent to do some real damage in the NFC if they stay disciplined in close games. Team has not learned to win close games, lacks the clutch gene needed.

Depth is a serious problem, offensive line is still 1-2 off-seasons away. Defensive line needs at least two bonafide studs. Big backs are going to eat the Saints defense alive this year. Pass Rush is not nearly good enough in games where they don't have big leads to pin their ears back. Cousins had all day to throw.

What frustrates most of us is we know that both the 2 wins and 2 losses were fluke-ish in a sense. The hot start was a bit of a mirage because we caught both at a good time. And the 2 losses were not really indicative of what the team can really do because the loss of McCoy was that devastating. Not to mention Taysom not being fully available.

I'm 100% convinced that if McCoy hadn't gotten hurt, we'd be 4-0 and pumped to play the champs.

So the what might have been is a bit painful, but it's football sometimes.

Poorly coached teams make mistakes and commit penalties that cost them close games. They also can't adjust to injuries. Just saying.

Yup, I’m hoping things get better and maybe they will but for an offense to be so dependent on a 34 year old RB/running QB etc is lunacy, especially one whose had his share of injuries….

Injuries happen to every team, if they don’t make the playoffs this year DA has to go….how many more excuses are left here that make any sense….

And I don’t think Davante Adam’s is going to be the godsend that others seem to think….

We're a team that has obviously improved from last year. They are still getting their stride. Realistically if Taysom Hill isn't injured we're 4-0.

They are an undisciplined, sloppy team.

In other words, a DA team. If Shaheed lets the punt go into the endzone, we win that game.
And you could say the same thing about the other 31 teams except for a play here and there they could be better or worse than their current record. I’m sure he (Shaheed) knew better but made a stupid mistake and then how do you blame DA for a great defensive play by tipping his pass? Those two plays you cannot blame on DA but some of you will blame the middle east crisis on him too. lol

DA's ceiling will be what Haslett did here. Currently he is worse than Haslett, since at least one of those seasons they made the playoffs and won a game in the playoffs.

We're right on track to finish, just as we have since Allen got here. There are no moral victories in the NFL, and division games are usually tight. All teams have to deal with injuries, but the elite teams find a way to win while their stars are out.

While I agree all teams have injuries, not all injuries are the same and they don’t impact all teams equally. Losing McCoy hurts a lot more than losing say Young. If you don't have depth at the position of injury, things get a lot more difficult in a hurry. Injuries matter, and hurts some teams more than others.

We simply don't have the depth of KC or Buffalo or a number of other teams. It is what it is. With McCoy, we averaged 40+ ppg, without him and partially without Hill, it's been half that. I think some people are underestimating just how devastating the loss of McCoy was. And Hill hurts a ton too.

Luckily for the Saints the NFC is not a very good conference right now. Who's the best team, Minnesota? Yeaaaaaaaaaaa

Saints can go very far this year. TB losing last night was a gift, keeps them from running away with it.

Weather the storm until McCoy is back. Y'all got this.
