2-6 Record... How can we get better? (1 Viewer)

How we get better is DA has to go. He is not a coach that can lead a team through adversity. It probably won't happen during the season but it needs to happen.

Then it is time for Loomis to go. Franchise needs new leadership and a new vision.

By securing the 1st overall pick and trading it out for draft capital and

Looking at the current standings, we have a lot of competition for the worst record. Sad part is there are better teams at losing than us. Our season is most certainly lost at this point. As much as I want us to win, it's going to be a very hard road to even salvage the season.

Even if Derek Carr comes back, defenses know they can blitz every down and our offensive line can't contain and Carr will be running for his life. A QB won't change anything and I think future wins will be harder unless we can fix the front line.

Only thing I fear Is losing will become part of the culture. Carolina is the best example of this.
You go with the only team that hasn't gotten things right? What about the Texans, Lions, Commanders. You have to get it right but being bad for a few years and picking the right players is the only way out of this for us.

We have so many injuries and a few players got injured in this game today. We have a very serious issue with conditioning because we are seeing injuries outside the norm for most teams.

We have players that are trying to win, but we have no winning formula since Week 2.

What can we do to turn this around or at least make some improvements?

Our defense has so many holes and penalties. The coaching or preparation is just not there.

I hate seeing us lose games that we have a shot at winning. It's the same story each each. Big penalties on both sides of the field, not making a better effort on tackling, and not being creative on offense.
We can’t, look at it this way. Prior to that 2017 class we’d had 3 losing seasons and there were rumblings that Payton was growing restless.

We hit on that class, added to the 1 or 2 hits we’d had in 2015 and 2016 like Michael Thomas, Sheldon Rankins, abd David Onyemata and it reset our trajectory. A year after that added Demario Davis and a few other guys and suddenly you have a strong nucleus built around 2017.

The Saints have had no such class under Allen, and thus our ceiling is capped and will continue on a downward trajectory.

Saints need a hell of a draft in 2025 to get back to relevance. Whether that comes under DA or a new coach is lagniappe.

Whomever steps in is going to have a rough time if they don’t hit it out the park next year

At this point there is nothing this team can do to get better.

People are even saying that we should have kept Winston and to be honest I tend to agree.

Winston got a raw deal, but we all knew that Dennis and Carmichael set him up for failure minus his injury setbacks. At the same time, losing Michael Thomas as a key to our offense was another thing we lost.

I agree on everything except Michael Thomas. The last 3 seasons he was getting injured walking from the parking lot to the training facility.

It was time to cut ties with him and his sparkling personality helped to make it possible.

Let's be real. They don't have to 'tank."

They're trying hard and they're 2-6.

Trade whoever they can for future assets if it doesn't destroy their ability to stay below the cap and keep trying as hard as they already have.

They'll be lucky to win five games with their current effort. Trades might, MIGHT drop that to four.

4-13 is better than 5-12.

Would I prefer 11-6? Of course. That isn't going to happen.

Win four. Trade that first round pick for a 2025 second + and a 2026 first.

Trade both 2026 firsts for 2026 seconds + and 2027 firsts

In 2027 they'll be able to trade for anybody they want. If they fix the cap by then they'll be ready to go for five + years.

We all know that they won't. We'll keep watching. We'll keep showing up. We'll keep buying merchandise. As long as we do that, they don't care. They'll keep over spending on old players and they'll keep trading away draft picks that might help with the salary cap.

I don't think that they want to lose. I also don't think that they know how to win.

The Commanders were the most dysfunctional team for probably a decade+. The new coaching staff turned it around in a few months.

I finally concede. We are bad. Coaching. Offense. Defense. But I’m still hoping, cheering, pulling for them to prove me wrong.

All those top ten picks including Jayden Daniel's might have had something to do with it
