2024 NFL Combine Starts This Thursday - February 29th (1 Viewer)

OL.....yeah...

Fashanu looks scary.....
What did you like about him? I'm not watching live and am only looking at the final numbers and his athleticism scores seemed mid.

his size looks taller and bigger than he really is might be just the Camera angle..... he pulled something on his second 40 so wasn't able to do any of the on field drills

him an Mims look like giants compared to the rest of the OL

From what I've seen at this combine, 1st round graded players are gonna be falling pending on position trends. A player like Bowers could fall easily to the late teens to early mid 20"s. That second rounder is gonna be a very intriguing pick for us.
There looks to be many more 1st round grades than the 32 picks.

Sure, but the guys with the ability to play in the NFL are not often the guys being counted on to do that blocking.
I understand and follow the logic of most of your post, but to assume these draftable players are so often the ball carrier that blocking doesn't need to be a focus is just incorrect. Running the ball requires blocking on the interior, the perimeter and downfield on every play. You don't just get to say 'it's not my job'. It may not be their job at college as often, but it will still be their job enough to truly matter.

So the question stands, how well can they block?

Fauntau looks incredible in these drills.

Definitely need to go back and watch his tape.
He's a lot of fun to watch. He's "short" but he has plenty of arm length. His position versatility makes him pretty interesting for the Saints. He's a legit starter at left tackle or guard and getting to the second level seems incredibly easy for him.

I saw a comment that his arms length limited him most likely to guard in the pros, but can anyone verify that as accurate?

Are you sure that wasn't Fuaga not Fautanu? It's tough this year with Fuaga, Fashanu and Fautanu.

Fautanu's arm were 34.5". That's plenty long.

ETA: Armstead was 34" and Ram was 33.75"

He has the same arm length as Alt who is 4 inches taller. And longer arm length than Fuaga and Fashanu who are 2 inches taller.

Mims however is built like a kaiju. He's 4 inches taller than Fautanu and his arms are almost 2 inches longer.

I'll tell you where I saw it (so we can disregard it), it's that PFF mock draft app - he's about the 5th ranked OT there, but his bio talks about him likely being an NFL guard.

Appreciate the detail on the arm length measurement.
