49ers GM says they have offer of 2 second round picks for Jimmy G on the table (2 Viewers)

The only way I would give them two 2nd round picks is if they extended him to a 3 year, $50 million deal with a $30 million signing bonus that they eat before the trade and then we get him for 3 years at $20 million. Then they can have two 2nds. Otherwise, I think I'd have to pass on that.

I wouldn't even do that deal.

I get it, but that is barely over rookie money with a contract you could unload at anytime. If the team was moving to a run focused offense with a dominant defense, I think you could do worse.

The money is fine. It's the two 2nd round picks that I don't want to give up for a game manager QB that throws far too many interceptions.

Sounds like the Colts are trading for Matt Ryan so this must be Atlanta or us if true.
I hope we don't have anything to do with this. Ya, he has a winning record but is hurt a lot and coming off shoulder surgery to his throwing arm.

I mean, I just can't see Mickey or Terry Fontenot being that dumb. I'm about 99% sure this is just Lynch trying to drive up Jimmy G's price before he has to cut him.

It may not be true but I don't think they're about to cut him either way. This report is basically saying you need to come with a 1st round pick if you want him. I don't think they'd want to scare off any team willing to give them a 2nd or 3rd if they were about to cut him.

An offer for 2 second round picks for a player just coming off serious shoulder surgery? If this were remotely true it would be team mismanagement to not have already accepted it. Just a GM trying to create the idea there’s a hot market for a player they are interested in trading.

I would have to think that had Lynch received that offer, he would have made the trade. I cannot believe that any team would offer one second-round pick, much less two second-round picks, for Garoppolo.
