4th and 4 and you call long pass to Wilson ??? (1 Viewer)

In the Derrick Carr interview after the game he said he checked down to the throw to Wilson because the main receiver was covered.
That's BS & he knows it. The main receiver was covered??? Please, even if he had Taysom Hill & AK41 wide open in the middle, he will still chuck it down the field. Stop acting like you're Tom Brady, Derek Carr.

Oh, I cannot wait to hear what excuse(s) Mickey Loomis have during this week's press conference. Because just like for the past 2-3 years, it's a broken record.

At this point, I rather have Bill Belichick coach us next season than go through another dumpste fire with Dennis Allen. Everyone has been saying that he has been a terrific defensive coordinator but a terrible coach. Now, he becoming both a terrible coach & DC.

At some point, leadership within the organization has to start asking questions:

1. Derek Carr made no attempt to work through his progression so it’s either poor decision making, which he has a proven track record or it was on purpose (I’ll say it)?

A person doesn’t make that throw on such a low percentage completion rate without doing it on purpose. He made no attempt to even look towards Juwan Johnson. He even made a point during the week to infer his return wasn’t going to mean a win.

2. I thought lowly of the Klint Kubiak hire when it was made due to his track record in the past and his decision making on plays has been atrocious. The Saints lead the NFL in runs on 3d down with a horrid offensive line. Is it incompetence? Hubris thinking his scheme will work no matter what trash lineman is blocking? He isn’t tailoring his plays to the talent available but rather continuing his scheme that doesn’t fit the talents of the players.

Why call a play like that knowing DC has a track record of questionable calls? Take away his options…KK’s hubris is going to cost this HC and I’m here for it because DA lacks the courage to lead.

3. Anyone who says DA couldn’t override the play call has NEVER led anything in their lives. Good leaders know what’s right and have the courage to ensure the right call is played. You don’t have to be an offensive guru to know that was a dumb play call.

Who hired the person calling the trash plays? DA did so not only does he lack courage, he lacks the decision making ability and judgment to make the right calls on the field and off the field.

There are multiple issues with this staff and just firing DA will not be the fix. It’s a problem from the top down starting with ML.

The fact that ML let Dan Campbell walk out of that building after multiple teams interviewed him says enough about ML’s decision making process because he decided to go with the ‘yes man’ DA to lead the Saints on the field and it’s showing he made a poor decision…ONCE AGAIN.

WTF Dennis Allen ?????? 😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖
0% chance that was the call that went in and the intent. No way that was the original number one option either.

Now whether Carr checked or just panicked like normal, that I can’t answer

Regardless, whatever it was. Keep doing what you’re doing bc we need the top pick in the draft a couple years in a row

I am with you, was just stating what Carr said. It's a sad situation.

Would not be surprised if that was Carr's doing. That is the same route we closed out a game last year on with Shaheed and Carr bragged about how he talked Carmichael into it and told him it would work. He may have been trying to be the hero with the same play.

So we couldn’t have just kept Jameis for the bs we been watching the last 2 years I think Gayle is to blame for this overall

I know. I'm not mad nor direct my anger at you. I'm just done with this team for this season. And if they don't move on fromeven Dennis Allen then I'll be done this team for good.

What's even crazier that Jim Haslett's 2000-05 regime was better than this regime

1st 3 seasons as the Saints HC:

Jim Haslett (26-22) with (1-1 in playoffs)
*Dennis Allen (18-25) with no playoffs appearance

(*) including (3) 17-games season with 2024 on going

Kamara was in and open for the first down with a LB trailing. WOuld have gotten at least 20 yards
I didn’t care to go watch again but that’s definitely what option #1 should’ve been.

If you don't re-watch it you won't see how wrong that statement was. AK was open 3 yds BEHIND the LOS with TWO panthers waiting for him at the LOS

This play alone tells how bad it is. You need the 1st down. The %'s of that pass ought to tell a lot. Maybe no one is open, but that play alone tells a lot about Carr and Allen. Carr has to find the open man on 4-5 yards open. Allen is not a leader to let that happen. Loomis is a weakling something has to be done. Benson needs to get football knowledgeable people in her building or she loses one of the most loyal fanbases around.

Worth noting that two Panthers were waiting there because Kubiak couldn’t trust Penning to protect Carr. We had a 7-man protection called on 4th and 4, and the Panthers only sent four rushers. Moreau had to block the LDE while the most dynamic receiver we had on the field (Kamara) couldn’t use his talent to try and win a 1v1 matchup.

Even with the numbers advantage in pass protection, Carr immediately locked on to the fade and threw the game away. I don’t recall him yelling “I told you!” to the sideline after that throw.
