A few thoughts on OC (2 Viewers)

No one will understand how bad I wanted this team to hire Mike McDaniel in 22.

Mostert and Tyreek Hill with a mobile QB would be on this team right now

We could have easily won this division with the potential offense and somewhat above average defense.

Smoked the Eagles and Lions in the process.

It should be us right now in the NFCCG

Sorry I went off on a tangent. Just pissed

Meant this year after the Payton fall out

I understand. I was just pointing out that it's not like Curry has never been considered as an OC for other teams and he is well respected around the league according to Underhill and Triplett. Still my hope is that Curry is the fall back position if they can't get one of the guys they really want and I hope they don't have to get to the fall back position.

I wanted McDaniel too, but wasn't he basically already hired in Miami by the time Payton announced he was retiring?

Curry would be a major disappointment. But at the same time, we need a whole new outlook from GM on down. I dont know if it makes a difference one way or another. The franchise is well, well past stale. We are a kitchen from 1985. Changing the linoleum isnt going to make much difference when you need new cabinets, countertops and appliances.

I mean, cmon!

Tyreek Hill, Mostert, Kamara, Taysom Hill, Shaheed

Sheesh

What could have been.

I can’t quite recall to be honest.

Oh, I think he could have done wonders with team. If he can make Tua look like that, he could make Carr look like a star. And the things he could have done with AK, Olave, and Shaheed make me want to cry. But, I think he was basically already the HC in Miami by the time Payton retired. Payton really kind of screwed us over with the timing. We were way behind other teams looking for a HC in terms of identifying targets, talking to agents, much less actually having interviews. The result was DA which really sucks.

Or we're waiting to interview more candidates who are still in the playoffs. I wouldn't expect to hear anything until next week at the earliest.

Good write up. The only issue I have is with Curry being even considered a real candidate. The reason is that I think it was head coach malpractice for him to not have been given a shot mid-season when the offense was clearly struggling. We kept doing the same thing when the outcomes didn't matter when it came to Pete's job security. Pete actually did call better games toward the end of the season yet it still didn't secure him another year. If that was going to be the case and Curry was going to be considered. How could DA not make that change then and then make it now? How could he say that it's the change the team needs when he could have effectively done the same thing 10 weeks ago to see how it without having to make the change permanent? It seems like a major blunder.

We were never getting Tyreek. There was no way to fit him under our cap. Mostert though we could have had.

Pete did just well enough to save his boss’ job but not well enough to save his own job.

I think you answered your own question. They weren't going to switch to Curry, who has not called plays in NFL games before, with the playoffs on the line given that Carmichael and the offense were much improved in the later part of the season. If the offense was still struggling in the last 5 or 6 games then sure give Curry a shot, but it was actually working with Pete calling plays late in the season. So, I'm not sure that the final decision was made on Carmichael until after the season was over.

The time frame I gave was when we were struggling to score a passing touchdown around the bye week, not the later period when things got a little better against bad teams. We were 5-5, 5-6, and 5-7 during that stretch and should have made a change there if we felt that Curry was ready to call plays. It was the perfect time for a dressed rehearsal and we dropped the ball on it.
