A Football Field Sized Asteroid's Probability Of Hitting Earth In 2032 Keeps Going Up By The Day (21 Viewers)

Earth is a big place.. maybe i missed it, but is there any indication of *where* on planet Earth this thing might hit ? That seems kinda important .

Astronomers: We have found a 90 meter object that is 7 years away and we calculate it has a 2 percent chance of impact on Earth.

Humans: Yeah but like where FFS?

Astronomers: . . . um, hopefully everywhere

I'm probably a little rusty, but I spent hours training for this day when I was a young buck. Bring it on.

Scott Manley does a pretty good job of explaining it. The chance of collision is likely to go up as they get more orbital data but Manley expects those odd will drop to near zero as they track down orbital data from it’s last flyby.

Either way, I think this is an excellent opportunity for NASA to test out their orbital deflection skills.
