Almost out of the league after not having a QB in New England. Patriots WRs aren’t having productive seasons since Brady left. They’re the worst place for a FA WR to go to or for any starting WR. 8th year vet minimum JuJu is still a significantly better WR than A.T. Perry, as well as better than our current 3rd-5th WRs. I never counted out JuJu or any of the Chiefs WRs before the game while they have Andy Reid scheming their plays. Just because a former multi 1k season WR had a good game in a long time against the Saints DBs doesn’t necessarily mean A.T. Perry is easily able to do the same, especially in 2 weeks. He‘s been inactive for a quarter of the season, cleared waivers and now on a practice squad. 5 WRs are ahead of him. I think he’ll develop into a contributor but he has to earn a role in Denver from the PS amongst an established depth chart. He was almost out of the league and signed for league minimum. While I am not saying Perry is as good or better, I am just saying our touted defensive backfield got roasted by a player like him that is far from a superstar in the NFL. That is why I said you would hope they could easily control a player like Perry 1 on 1 (and they should), they also should have performed much better against a player like JuJu and did not show up.
Saints haven’t allowed WRs to explode for huge games going into MNF. DeVonta Smith and Drake London were scoreless while they were able to get volume short-intermediate catches. Lamb, arguably the NFL’s best WR, had a 65 yd TD catch but 3 rec/25 yds on his other targets vs the Saints. I’m not surprised that the back to back SB winning coach was able to put JuJu in a position for success again after losing their WR1.
