A.T. Perry waived (Unclaimed off waivers); Perry signs to the Broncos practice squad (2 Viewers)

Last season Carr had enough time to get through 1.5 reads before checking down due to happy feet most of the time... it isn't a SURPRISE that he only got 18 targets in the 8 games with significant play time if he was the 3rd or 4th read. This season so far Carr has been schemed into only having to go through 1 or 2 reads until the last game when we decided to abandon play action due to the interior oline's failures.

I don't need anyone to explain the situation. We're 22 pages of paragraph after paragraph of unnecessarily rehashing the same thing over and over. Point is it sucks to lose a prospect over injuries at another position due to lack of depth caused by the salary cap situation.

Who knew I was gonna score another one for the Salary Cap?

I'd buy that they don't have OL depth due to salary cap limitations more if they weren't in talks to trade for a WR with $16 million in cap hit this year and another $50 or $60 million over the next two years.

The truth is that there is a lack of depth on the OL all over the NFL and no teams are 3 deep at Center or Guard. There just aren't enough good OL available in free agency even if we had the money. The failure to have depth, or really quality starters, on the OL is in failing to draft well on the OL and failing to invest picks on the OL. Penning is serviceable at best, Saldiveri can't even get on the field, and Young is below average at best. So they have often missed on the OL in the draft and they frankly haven't spent enough mid-to-late round picks on OL.

I agree that OL depth is an issue league wide. When you combine OL depth issues with TE, LB, WR, etc., the team will struggle. We had enough talent to field a competitive starting team, although still very thin at some starting positions. Outside of the DBs, we can't afford injuries anywhere else.

Also, I don't think we have the money to trade for a WR with Adams' cap hit. Sure, Mickey can "make it happen", but the long term cost outweighs the short term benefit. It's Mickey's inability to tell himself "no" thats often the issue. The cap is a problem with this team, and we're only beginning to fix it. I think we are thin this year because Mickey has started to say no. This is all part of the recovery process. I think trading for and absorbing Adams' hit would be a horrible decision. I think we just need to continue to ride it out and understand that we're playing from a disadvantage, for now. Mickey seems committed to a rebuild of sorts, he's just not saying it. So fans continue talking "window" for the team, when in that regard, the Saints are actually on the outside looking in.

The Raiders have already paid 5M of the 17M salary and will have to pay at least another Million this week. The longer the trade goes the more likely they Raiders will eat the majority of Adams remaining salary.

I don't disagree about Adams. I'm just says whether it's a good idea or not, they can find the money if they need to and they could have done it on the OL but I don't think the talent was out there to spend money on. I also agree that Mickey needs to continue with the soft rebuild and getting the cap back closer to the mean. I'm fine with kicking the can when you are close to competing for a championship, but IMO right now we are too thin and too many positions and need two or three playmakers to really make that run. I think we need to save cap space and accumulate draft picks and young talent right now.

Sure but that still means $10 million to $8 million this year that we don't have. Either the Raiders have to eat more, which likely means we give higher draft picks that we can't afford to give, or we have to kick the can to create space. And that's not even counting that we will have to re-do his contract and likely kick the can or use up a lot of cap space to sign him for two more years. And if they are just seeing him as a 10 or 11 game rental I'm totally against giving up a high draft pick for that this year.
