Alvin Kamara pleads no contest to lesser misdemeanor charge, jury trial is cancelled; civil suit also settled on confidential terms (1 Viewer)

Regarding the amount that was paid, I would think that the District Attorney's office would not have given Kamara the agreement he received without the victim's consent and that the necessity of the victim's consent raised substantially the amount of the settlement of the civil lawsuit. I am not sure I understand the tactical reasons that the civil action was filed in Orleans Parish; though a very liberal venue for personal-injury lawsuits, it would also seem a favorable venue for a popular Saints football player. For this discussion, I am going to assume there was not a serious argument that there was a punitive-damage claim.

As to damages and the settlement amount, I suspect that nobody engaged in this discussion has read the reports of his treating physicians and other experts as to how much in lost income he had sustained, whether he had a permanent disability, whether he had sustained cognitive deficits, whether he had ongoing emotional complaints, and whether he had a future lost income or diminished earning capacity claim. Surely, there were reports from his treating physicians and employer or business records showing some lost income. Surely, there were some claims for future damages, and I would be surprised if there were not reports from a vocational expert and an economic expert. Was there also examination or treatment by a psychologist or possibly even a neuropsychologist? My point is that we really do not know how much Kamara paid to settle the civil lawsuit. If I had to guess, the amount was high six figures. But I am guessing. But if the plaintiff's attorneys wanted to be aggressive and creative, the amount could have been higher.

AK will never lose his starter title as long as he’s here for the remainder of his current deal. His touches distribution across the season are fluid though based on the production of Williams and Miller. It would take either one stringing along several big games to see a new starter listed at RB. They’re still depth who will have major roles game to game right now.

Saints Panic Routine:

-Saints player in trouble
-Fans wonder if team should cut him
-Player beats charges
-Fans suspect suspension of max games
-Fans daydream about Player losing starting position
-Fans speculate player cut due salary cap

We are on #5 btw....
They want JW to beat him out...if that happens we got serious problems because that means that AK is no longer better than a mid tier RB Free Agent from Detroit

AK isn't going to lose his job while in a Saints uniform. Having said that, I'd love to see Kendre Miller step up and show that he's ready for serious touches in terms of carries. AK has been at his best with under 200 carries and around 80 receptions. He's best when used in tandem with another quality RB. Hopefully Miller is that guy.

I want to see a modern day version of our 2009 backfield of Bush/PT/Bell with AK/Miller/Williams.

This was the latest update to the policy and it went into effect last year and it was the policy used in the Desean Watson situation last year. You really think the NFLPA would not say anything if the NFL just handed down a punishment that doesn't go through this process? Not a chance in hell.

The information the NFL has collected will be turned over the the retired judge that was jointly hired and she will make her decision likely sometime in the next month. After that either side can appeal her decision to the Commisioner who can then make a final ruling.
still want to stand by 'not a chance in hell' statement? not sure why some people are so adamant about what they think criminal justice system and NFL actually have by the book policies. never have NEVER will..
