The whale behaved like that precisely because of the way it was held. Only an idiot wouldn't want to discuss the conditions that lead up to the death of the poor trainer.

I don't see anyone in this thread that could be mistaken for a PETA representative, but that doesn't preclude any talk of the relevant circumstances leading to the animal's behavior.

That was pretty amazing. Just goes to show that no matter how "trained" you think an animal is, it's still a wild animal deep down inside and that will never change.

if the whale was just "playing with a toy", as the thinking seems to be by most, why didnt the trainers throw a few more toys in there to try and distract the whale? or do anything to try and help the woman other than just stand there and hope she gets close enough to grab.

Now that it's killed a few people I'm beginning to suspect that this may not be the right whale (no pun intended) to be using in a captive breeding program meant to make more whales to be used in shows.

Im not saying they should destroy it but I will say they should use a different bull for their cows.

The whale is too big to fail. He's one of the most successful breeders in captivity. It's an assumed risk, and the third human Tilly has killed, including the mental case victim #2.
