Analyzing Pete Werner's Potential and Could He Be Next In Line as the Next Great Saints LB (1 Viewer)

I don't think it's calling him solid but saying that's all he'll ever be. He's was a second year ILB. Tough position for young guys. Pretty awesome what he's done so far.
I could surely be wrong. Just my opinion as others have theirs. I’m a fan of his, and will continue to root for him. Hopefully he becomes all pro (DD level imo) and I’ll be proven wrong.

I believe this is the year that he stays healthy, and I believe that if he does, he takes the next step into stardom

Yep you weren't joking, but you sure give a clown take here.....let me guess, you thought he wasn't going to be so good, didn't like the draft pick and when it turns out he can play, it hurt your feewings.....aw, so sorry.....

So lets go out and get an older, not nearly as good, injury prone LB as depth....I'm an LSU fan but Kwon doesn't help us at this point.....

I hope Pete Werner continues his "average" play.......in your opinion.....
Nope, I've always been consistent on Werner since we drafted him, I even wrote a thread (2yrs ago) saying the same things I say now about him.

Kwon Alexander is "older" by 4 years than Werner. Bro, I'm done.

I suggested we sign Alexander due to him being a good player for us and being familiar with the scheme. Plus LB is still the team's weakness. I never said I wanted him to start.

Reality is not your strong suit.....bro....

Nearly everyone acknowledges whether they liked the Werner pick or not that he has performed better than anyone thought he would.....you would have to either be:

1) Delusional due to an incredibly fragile ego
or
2) Blind
or
3) Something personal against Werner

to not recognize the facts here......

And 4 years older for a LB in the NFL (especially one who has already played 8 injury filled years) is an eternity.....Werner has played 2 seasons, Kwon 8 injury filled seasons (he only played in all 16 games 1 season).....

Kwon as a depth signing doesn't make sense when there are younger, healthier possibilities out there, that we may have on the roster right now....

But don't let facts get in the way of your consistent ignorance re: Werner....

Has he though? Performed above average..Has he?

Pete Werner has yet to record a sack or play a full season.....EVER! Kaden Ellis played one season full time and got 7. Kwon Alexander played 2 and got 4. See where I'm are going with this.

Oh but he had alot of tackles, lol. So did Stephone Anthony his rookie year with 112 1 sack 2FF...LMAO! These numbers are better than Werner TBH. How is he doing now??

Kwon Alexander has played 2 full seasons, including last year when he played 17gms. ***I don't mind playing this game but if I have to correct/school you one more time, the game is over.***

Who plays behind Demario Davis and Werner again....that has reliable NFL experience again??? Please educate me.

WHO??

Lastly, I say "Don't let facts get in the way of your consistent ignorance"

I don't even know where to start with this nonsensical word salad above....

Sacks? How often do they blitz Werner? His game is not blitzing the QB, they rarely have him rush the QB....... it's coverage and run defense, he excels in those areas....

Oh and Kwon averages just over a sack a year in his 8 year NFL career (a grand total of 12.5 sacks over his career)....?????????????? Why you would focus on lack of sacks from a player whose primary responsibilities seldom include rushing the QB?

And, my mistake, Kwon did appear in all 17 games as a Jet last year, he only started 12 of them, I misread the stats, I'll admit to a mistake or when I'm wrong, I doubt you ever will....

Also, Werner is a 2nd year player, he was hurt last year and missed some games, he appeared in 15 his rookie year and only started 8....so technically he hasn't played a full season.....yet.....

If he can stay healthy you are going to continue to run out of sane/reasonable rationale of why you just don't like him for some reason....he isn't a star yet, but he is much better than many thought and very likely a mainstay on the Saints D for years to come with star potential....

Also your "I don't mind playing this game" comment is cute...it's so you... go on with your delusional self.....

This all I wanted you to admit, we both could have saved some time. We need another guy at that position. BTW I don't hate Scott Shanle...I mean Pete Werner, I just said he is average.

The only things holding Pete Werner back from "greatness" from a fan's perspective are:

His name
His number
His shoulder pads
Debilitating lack of swag

That's pretty much it. The guy has no swag. No sweet dark visor, arm bands, elbow brace, etc. The dude is a living computer generated player on Madden or NCAA. If you take this same player, name him something like Donovan Slade and have him drippin swag the he'd be viewed way different.

Not really, he only missed a single game his rookie year.....You were wrong with your draft opinion on Werner and you are wrong now, Werner is way better than average, and has the potential to be great......He is a 2nd year player, his play has exceeded expectations, if he stays healthy and continues to improve will you admit you are wrong? I doubt it.....

Good luck. I got clowned and such for saying he’s above average and solid. And for saying that to me, greatness is DD, and Werner isn’t at that level. You calling him Shanle and average I don’t see how they’ll not burn you at the stake. 😂😂

I wrote a thread 3 years ago and I called him Scott Shanle before he played a down then and I still have the same view (ten toes down ain't moving). Can't burn me at the stake if I'm right.

Kaden Ellis in his first true season last year outplayed him badly and played himself into a lucrative contract.

For the record, I don't hate Pete Werner I just think he is average, and it nothing wrong with that. You can have a 10yr career in the NFL being average.

I’m not disagreeing with you, except to say I think he’s above average (if can stay healthy). I get your points, just saying it’s an unpopular opinion around here. 😂

I will admit that I am wrong, when its proven. I was wrong about Cooper Kupp(I attribute this to film fatigue though when I scouted him) and Alontae Taylor(I was right about his college play but his NFL play is really good). I admit when I'm wrong.

I'm not wrong about Werner. Its nothing wrong being Scott Shanle, I've said this a million times. When has being average a negative.

Well, for gosh sakes, lets hope that your opinion on Werner is clouded due to "film fatigue"......LMAO......

Lol what is film fatigue? I'm not hating, I've just never heard of that. Is it like you were grinding so hard watching film that it altered your perception of a player?
