Ansah is the way to go (1 Viewer)

Use the 1st round pick on a player that will rotate in if we are lucky?

I dont think Ansah will be there a 15. I dont think he'll be there at 10, for that matter. But to be honest, if Ziggy, Dion Jordan, Mingo, and Jarvis Jones were some how still on the board, I would 100% take Jarvis Jones without a doubt. Yes, Jones' medicals are suspect, but he kills what all those kids did COMBINED, on the field. None of those guys came close to having the impact that Jones had. The combine, or lack there of for Jones, may be a blessing in disguise for us.

This!
Jarvis is the truth. He is ready to step in right now and contribute at the nfl level. Jarvis is a DOMINANT player, put the tape on? Anshan Jordan Mingo can probably be situational guys they still need seasoning.

There seems to be a contingent of people that are non-specifically demanding that whoever we draft come in and immediately have like double digit sacks. The draft isn't called a crap shoot for giggles. And because we had a terrible defense last year our goals rest so much on the play of a rookie, he can't be someone with a higher ceiling than their projected early production? Doesn't sit well with me.

I get the ticking clock that is seasons Brees has left before he retires/declines and our Super Bowl contending window. Get it fully. But I plan on this team being elite for years to come, even after the Brees era. And elite talent has a long..half-life.

All that purple prose is just to say that if Ansah is somehow still there at #15. Run. Up. To. The. Podium.

You don't pass on it when talent falls in your lap like that. Yes, he's raw. Big whoop. Hell, the things that derail guys like him usually have nothing to do with their ability to absorb a playbook or anything remotely physical. If Ansah fails, it'll probably be because we find out he's soft, doesn't work as hard as he needs to, injuries, and/or gross stupidity.

You're right the draft is a crap shoot. Then why would we draft a player that is a crap shoot?

The draft is risky, that's why the Saints should draft a player that they feel is a cant miss. Everyone one and their mom agrees that Ansah could be great or a huge bust. At 15 and he drops, doesn't that say something about what other teams think about him?

We all get what purple prose is saying. All everyone else is saying that if Ansah is sitting there at 15 with 4 other players that have a bigger body Of work and are more experienced, then the Saints need to take one of those guys.

I don't see it. When I've watched the Youtube video, I see a guy who lacks a great takeoff at the snap and who doesn't shed blocks until the play breaks the pocket. However, his closing speed is truly elite for his size, and he chases plays all over field. But I think he'll really struggle in the NFL.

No doubt his athleticism is off the charts but is he too raw? He is very much a boom or bust type of athlete. We have to be confident that he has the drive to reach is full potential. Pretty risky pick in the first round and when we can't afford to miss with the defense needing so much help and not to mention the loss of the second round pick. Rob Ryan has a great reputation developing LBs would be his position coach. I would love to draft him but I also love about 5-10 others. Im just excited with the possibility od adding another playmaker.
