Anthony McFarland could be expendable in Indy (personal speculation) (1 Viewer)

We've attempted to address this fascination with the stats of certain DTs before. Would you say that Tank is on the downside of his career? He rarely makes more than couple tackles a game, yet is regarded as a good asset to have. Booger's "paltry" 33 tackles in 11 games was about the same that Stroud and Henderson have averaged the last couple years. Yes, Booger's role of occupying a couple of players from the opposing OL is his game, and the Saints are making the upgrade of the LB and secondary corps a priority. I feel that Booger would be another piece of the puzzle. A healthy Booger has more stamina, and offers more pursuit than Thomas.

And a good pickup in the draft would give the Saints a player at the position for more than a year, two tops, instead creating an anchor on the D-line for possibly years to come. Good teams are built through good drafts, not aging veterans. There are only 53 players on the active roster, and I think someone with so many plays under his belt, causing him to turn an "old" 31 next season, should not occupy that spot. And where is your support that says he would provide more stamina and pursuit? I guarantee that whatever team picks him up will not see him on the field for more than 50% of the defensive snaps.

You have every right to disagree with me, of course. Just allow me the same right to disagree with you. There are way too many on here who seem to think that if others don't agree with them, it is a personal attack just from not agreeing, when in reality it's just a difference of opinion.

And you really don't want my opinion of "Tank," if you are referring to the former Chicago player now on the Cowboys' roster.

The one thing I really noticed about everything that has been written about Booger these 2 years he has been with the Colts is the veteran leadership he has provided. He has taken a young line and merged it into a unit. Several of the players has said so publicly and the same has Dungy.

I agree we need to get younger on the D# but we do need veteran leadership to help teach and guide those (hopefully) young defensive BEASTS we draft. Besides that, I think Booger can truly contribute for a year or two if healthy.

I suspect that your opinion of Tank would have nothing to do with the matter at hand of DT performance. You've just castrated McFadden, and he wasn't even arrested...Anyway, seems most are simply too willing to overlook players near that cursed threshold of age 30. Saints fans sure have some nerve with their various demands. I can understand most having no interest in Ray Lewis, yet calling him "through" was annoying to me. I've pointed out how his stats were virtually identical with Urlacher.

I agree that the draft is crucial, but we need someone to plug in while we have a better rotation, and can focus on our other needs with our first two picks.. I said that Booger would provide more stamina and pursuit than Thomas. I didn't compare him with Young, right? A healthy Booger is stronger than Young, and Thomas isn't exactly a high-revving motor type of guy.
