I second any of the restaurants in the East Bank District. Beaujax, Frozen Pirogue, Flying Heat for pizza, All are really neat spots and have great atmospheres.

Crazy how one hop over Jimmie Davis and the water suddenly tastes like what Miracle Gro potting soil smells like.Frozen Pirogue and Beaujax are the same ownership group in the Bossier Entertainment district. Both are good, but Frozen Pirogue always seemed more expensive for what you got.
Stay away from anything named Shane's. The food is decent, but the owner is a major sphincter and not someone I wish to patronize.
Marilyn's is another nice place that I always forget because it is located in Broadmoor neighborhood and I am rarely in the area. We did the Highland Mardi Gras parade at Marilyn's this past year and it was a good time. Go Go VIP table inside with free food and booze all day.
Lil Italiano is decent for up-scale Italian, but you should call and make a reservation. Even if the place is empty, they cop an attitude and make you wait while they "prepare a table". We have gotten sick of waiting across the street at Flying Heart and walked over to Lil Italiano instead. A 10 minute wait for them to "prepare a table" in an empty restaurant is better than an hour and 10 minute wait at Flying Heart where you still maybe an hour away from a table (Ignore the empty tables. they are not real). Feel free to stand around and drink beer though. Monjunis is probably my Go-To for affordable Italian. Their sauce is a little sweet, but they have locations all around town.
I could have sworn I saw somewhere Herbey Ks was closed for good. Now I can't find anything about it, so perhaps they decided to stay open or got additional investment or whatever they needed.
Also as another aside about dining in Shreveport/Bossier area, the water sucks in Shreveport. It tastes bad and it is not healthy to drink. We have a water quality expert at work that tested the Shreveport tap water, he got a funny look on his face and told us, "Do not drink this water, it is not good water." Since the Water in Shreveport stinks, so does the iced tea or any other drink made with the crappy water. Just keep that in mind when ordering beverages.
