Anyone catch Sirianni’s quote on Kellen voting for the tush push? (6 Viewers)

The nfl banned lifting and pulling players to gain yards a long time ago. Wouldn’t surprise me even a little if they banned pushing another player to gain yards.

And honestly I’d understand the logic behind that. I’m not necessarily FOR banning the tush push. But I’d get it.

It could be a 2-for-1 situation where instead of specifically banning the tush push directly, they ban pushing/pulling players to gain yards at all. You know some plays where a runner’s progress is stopped and lineman come from behind and push them forward another 10 yards? I can see them eliminating that play with new language put in the rules that includes the tush push.

I think the simple language would be “The player receiving a snap from under center cannot be assisted as a runner. I.E. Pushed or pulled by teammates.”

That’s gonna get real finicky. Wonder if they would just call the ball down wherever the push began, or if there would be a penalty attached. I could see that being a discretionary call that ruins the outcome of games. 4th and goal. Last play of the game. Offense needs this TD to win. QB takes the sneak, fullback accidentally makes contact with the QB’s back. TD called back. Game over.
