People also forgot Ruiz came in during the covid year then had an issue his 2nd year I think. Time on task is the only way to get better and to have his offseason cut short and a dynamic change...it stunted his growth. Same with Turner. He'd likely be more developed now had he been healthier and having a full offseason. It's so good to see this young man developing and coming into his own. The coaching staff has done a great job with him. So many fans gave up on him because he wasn't awesome as a rookie. People want instant gratification with everything in this modern world and football is no exception. If a rookie doesn't come in and look great then he's a bust and he needs to be traded asap.
I'm old enough to remember the days when it was common for rookies to struggle. Sometimes it would take two or three years before they were ready to start. Some 5 star recruits aren't ready to start until their Jr year. Some 1st round picks aren't ready to start until year three. In fantasy people would keep an eye on WRs going into their third season. Year three was the breakout year for a lot of them.
What changed? Why are people so eager to label young players busts? It seemed like people were actively rooting for Ruiz to fail because the Saints didn't draft their draft crush. They had Ruiz going in the late 2nd in their mock draft v8.0.
