Bears new QB is pretty good (1 Viewer)

Dudes a baller and will be around for a while. If he was QB of a more solid overall team, he would be getting comparisons to Purdy (who is actually human as well)

He doesn't have the ceiling of a player like Fields, though. He'll be a game manager and get a shot at being a starter one day. In the end, he'll make a lot of money backing up other QBs...which ain't bad.

So it wasn't the 335 yards and 4TDs on 80% passing? LOL.
Yet, we are hyping up Bagent's going 1-3 throwing for 3TD and 6INTs in those games, for whatever reason. Not saying that he doesn't have a future but I'm rubbing my head on this one.

He fumbled away more points in the second half then he scored. Then threw a pick to wrap the game.

This, for context, was one of the best games Justin Fields ever played. I'm not hyping up any Bears QB, they all suck and have for decades lol.

The kid was on fire for a while. First downs every play it seemed. Rushing was for 58 yards last time I caught the stats. He just seemed to do it all right.

I see I'm in the minority.

I think this kid is gonna be good.
I agree. Other than the INT's I thought he was pretty composed and went through his progressions well.

The Saints could do worse than this guy, if we had a chance to get him.

I agree, he’s not afraid of the moment and has the measurables. Obviously he has a ways to go, but it felt like playing a young Matt Ryan. Throwing behind where the pressure is. And annoyingly scrambling keeping drives alive. And a winners demeanor. I would be stoked if Chicago cuts him loose and if we have a need pick him up.

Fields also played for one of the top Collegiate teams in the country with outstanding coaches to guide and teach him. He is also in his 3rd season and still looks average as a QB. Fields comp % per season is 58.9, 60.4, & 61.7%.

Bagent played for a D-II school of that most of the country never heard of until he got a chance to start. Bagent’s comp % is 67.3%. I’m pretty sure Bagent didn’t get a lot of reps with the 1st or 2nd teams in training camp either.

Bagent has talent which is evident in his poise and abilities. Yes, he is going to need a lot of development and coaching to succeed in the NFL. But for someone who’s raw like he is throwing into a starting position rookie year, I think he’s doing a very good job. Clean up the INT’s and he will be pretty good.

Not a QB expert, but he has a decent skill set. However, 2 of his INTs were the result of throwing behind an open receiver, and the ball was picked by a Saints defender in good position.

Kid played well, but made his share of mistakes.

The last interception to Adebo was BAD! Way behind his guy. He had a good 1st half because guys were WIDE open. Once the Saints adjusted, it was over. If not for our anemic offense, that game would've been 38 to 17. He may can hang around as a backup, but not a starter.

Wow. Lotta hate for the new kid replacing the first rounder.

I thought he was good.
Consider the competition :ROFLMAO:

While Purdy has started turning it over recently, the big praise for him last year and during the 49ers' 5-0 start was that he did not turn it over. Bagent's certainly turning it over. Being on a bad team doesn't force you to throw behind WRs.

He’s likeable. He’s not good. Had the Saints made him throw from the pocket and played contain, he might have thrown 10 interceptions.

Calm in the pocket, hits his reads on time, knows where the outlet is in the offense. That play where he dodges guys in the backfield and hit his TE who'd leaked in the flats only happens if he has full control of the offense.

Once the defense clamped down on what they were trying to do he came back down to earth, but with some experience he's going to be a keeper, or at the very least Average.

Well I see some members share my opinion.

To me the kid was surprisingly poised in the first half. Almost no experience, playing well against a good defense, accomplishing that is not trivial. He certainly made mistakes as a rookie is expected to, and they got worse as the game progressed. But early in the game, he looked poised and polished. I was impressed.

I do believe this kid has a lot of potential.
